Environmental Health and Safety Specialist
Duties:
- Develop and implement safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and develop preventive measures
- Prepare detailed reports on safety performance, including incident statistics, trends, and recommendations for improvement
- Collaborate with management and employees to promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability
- Provide training and education on safety procedures, emergency response, and hazard communication
- Monitor and evaluate workplace conditions to ensure compliance with occupational health standards
- Stay up-to-date with industry regulations and best practices to proactively address emerging safety issues
#### Skills:
- Strong report writing skills to document safety inspections, incident investigations, and compliance reports
- Proficiency in conducting root cause analysis to identify underlying causes of accidents or incidents
- Knowledge of occupational health principles and practices to assess workplace hazards and recommend control measures
- Certification in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and first aid to provide immediate medical assistance if needed
- Ability to fabricate or modify safety equipment or devices as necessary to improve workplace safety
- Familiarity with EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) regulations related to hazardous materials handling and waste management
- Understanding of workers' compensation laws and processes to effectively manage workplace injuries or illnesses
- Experience in developing training programs and delivering engaging presentations on safety topics
- Thorough knowledge of OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards and requirements
