Job Description:
In close collaboration with the safety director, to be responsible for the safe and effective operation, inspection and maintenance of the hyperbaric chamber system and supporting components. To ensure compliance with all federal and state regulatory and accrediting agencies as well as all UAB Hospital and department policies, procedures and practices. Working closely with physician staff, to ensure the efficient operation of assigned area. To schedule staff to meet patient care needs. To be a technical resource. To perform the duties of a hyperbaric technologist.
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED and two (2) years hyperbaric chamber experience required. Associate s degree in an allied health field preferred. Membership in UHMS (Undersea & Hyperbaric Medical Society) highly desired. Currently certified as a Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) by the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology (NBDHMT) required. Must provide proof of completion of a UHMS or NBDHMT (National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology) approved Hyperbaric Safety course after a minimum of one year of Hyperbaric Medicine chamber operation. Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
