$22.20 p/hr

7:00 am - 3:00 pm (or different hours if applicable)
Full-time 1st shift (days) 12-months/ 261 days
DESCRIPTION:
- Meet with Security Personnel and administrators to discuss safety & security concerns, and inappropriate student behavior. Formulate action plans to resolve problems related to smoking, class attendance, tardiness, parking lot issues, students leaving school grounds, or other issues related to student Safety and school security.
- Patrol parking lots for suspicious or dangerous situations.
- Patrol locker rooms, rest rooms, lounges, study halls, stairwells, bus platform, cafeteria, and other potential problem areas, including the exterior of the building, on a regular basis.
- Work with building administration to monitor job performance of all duty assistants assigned to security monitoring.
- Communicate with students on a regular basis regarding district Safety and Security issues, provide orientation and assistance to students as needed.
- Organize and monitor security for extracurricular activities and school events including but not limited to dances and sporting events.
- Monitor and operate district safety/security technology (i.e., CCTV, access cards, etc.). Ensure proper use and care of district equipment; operate and maintain equipment in accordance with established policies and procedures. Safeguard school district assets, property, equipment, and facilities against illegal and destructive acts.
- Observe and report violations of local, state, and federal laws to administrators, and cooperate with law enforcement to assist the investigation and possible prosecution.
- Through demonstrated professionalism, serve as an active deterrent to potential security risks, recognize and respond to changes in normal conditions that may lead to safety or security risks.
- Respond to emergency situations; administer first aid and CPR within scope of training. Apprehend and detain people, as needed, within the limits specified under the Criminal Code of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and internal policies and procedures.
- Observe, report, and note any possible safety or hazardous situations or activities.
- Ensure appropriate levels of access control are in place during all hours, report any discrepancies and make notifications to individual members of management as may be required.
- Submit written incident reports, as needed, for situations occurring on school property. Reports are to be concise, accurate, grammatically correct, and able to be presented for management and/or legal review.
- Abide by all rules, regulations and policies of the Central Bucks School District and the Operations Department.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent and training from federal, state or municipal law enforcement-training academy, contract security, in-house proprietary security, military police, PA Act 235, EMT, and/or comparable Emergency Services training.
- A minimum of two (2) years' experience in private security, fire, EMS, military, and/or public/law enforcement agency. Experience must be in a "team" environment as part of a larger security, military, emergency services or law enforcement contingent covering a campus, industrial, utility, institutional or municipality. Experience working with adolescents is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to read and write in English equivalent to a high school graduate. Ability to communicate in English particularly in emergency situations requiring clear and definitive articulation to assure confidence, control, and safety of those involved; to respond to guests and employees with poise, tact, and authority during routine and/or crisis situations; to interact effectively with all levels of employees and with law enforcement authorities; to make sound judgements, resolve conflicts and deal with both victims and perpetrators of crime.
- Must possess or be able to successfully complete and maintain current CPR and First Aid Certification as set forth by the American Red Cross or equivalent association. Any additional certifications such as Emergency Medical Technician, and/or Pennsylvania State Police Act 235 should be maintained and current.
- Must successfully complete required Act 44 and Safe Schools training within the first 6 months of employment i.e. NASRO School Resource Officer, ICS-100, ICS-200, and other training as assigned.
- Function in a non-discriminatory manner. Must possess the ability to make mature and sound judgments; defuse and resolve conflicts.
- Available to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, and midnights as well as weekends and holidays.
- Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle driver's license and clean driving record.
- Will consider a comparable combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to cooperatively work with students and staff. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions. Must display good judgment and organizational skills, ability to prioritize tasks and communicate effectively.
Physical Demands: Ability to work in a school environment for extended periods of time including but not limited to sitting, standing, bending, reaching, walking, talking, hearing, climbing stairs and occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. Must be able to work indoors or outdoors and be able to work regularly and on time. Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
