JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
We are searching for a Part-Time Safety and Security to join our Security Services Office at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University. ARL's purpose is to research and develop innovative solutions to challenging scientific, engineering, and technology problems in support of the Navy, the Department of Defense (DoD), and the Intel Community (IC).
ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.
You will:
- Have an awareness of programming ARL's electronic building/door access control and Security facility alarms as well as its video surveillance system
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors and subcontractor partners engaged with repairs as well as for ARL's electronic building/door access control and Security facility alarms as well as its video surveillance system
- Periodically test and document electronic building/door access controls and secure facility alarms as well as its video surveillance system designs for new secure facilities as ARL's requirements and U.S. government industrial security policies change
- Coordinate and implement policies and procedures and liaise between ARL Security Service and University Police and Public Safety
- Provide agile and efficient security support and outstanding customer service to all organizational groups and personnel in a fast-paced, complex and rapidly evolving environment
- Prepare for and represent the organization in all aspects of security inspections and oversight by U.S. government agencies.
Required skills/experience areas include:
- An active Top Secret government security clearance
- Proficiency with program coordination and information sharing among other business units such as Information Technology, Human Resources, General Counsel, senior management, internal offices, government counterintelligence, security, and law enforcement representatives
- Incident management, investigations, intelligence analysis and production of reports
- Experience with and use of risk management principles
- Use of critical thinking, logic, and identifying and understanding the impact of biases
- Service-oriented, team-player with the ability to adapt to organizational culture as well as function autonomously and effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written/verbal communications with polished interpersonal and office skills
- Microsoft Office, database and web applications
Preferred skills/experience areas include:
- USG-based industrial security experience, including clearance process and requirements.
- Practical experience with analyzing and understanding human behavior/psychology
- Cyber and physical security principles, including sensitive and/or controlled information
- A leadership, compliance, risk-management, and/or military background
Your working location will be on-site located in State College, PA.
