This person should be local to the Pittsburgh area and able to work in the office in a hybrid capacity.
We're looking for a junior-level Robotics Software Engineer to support full-stack autonomy development including perception, localization, navigation, and task optimization. You will have the opportunity to work on a diverse set of robotics challenges ranging from control of large construction equipment, drone navigation and planning autonomous jet-ski perception, 3D scene reconstruction, and self-driving off-road vehicles. You will assist a strong team of scientists and engineers to help drive critical architecture decisions within our machine learning and computer vision pipeline.
What You'll Do
- Support and assist in the design, optimization and implementation of cutting-edge localization and path-planning systems for off-road vehicles.
- Enhance unified back-end architecture that coordinates tasking for multi-platform autonomy behaviors across a wide variety of UGVs and UAVs
- Support simulating scenarios using tools such as Unreal and Gazebo
- Assist in the development and implementation of unit testing of code using simulation tools and actual hardware
What We're Looking For
- B.S. or M.S. Robotics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, etc. or equivalent in industry experience
- 1-2 years of relevant industry experience
- Experience writing object-oriented code in Linux/C++, using a git-based workflow in a Linux environment
- Familiarity with modern software principles, architecture, and design
- Excellent mathematical reasoning skills, especially with probability
- Experience with unit testing suites such as GTest, CppUnit
- General understanding of Agile software development cycle and development methodology
- Familiarity with data processing, sensor error modeling and simulation tools
- Some experience with autonomous and robotics systems is preferred
