This is a Stanford Health Care - University Healthcare Alliance job.
A Brief Overview
The RN Quality Consultant works under the direction of the Director of Clinical Quality supporting design, implementation, and performance of UHA and Affinity's population health program and clinical standards. He or she provides support and leadership in areas of care gap report generation, EPIC bulk outreach initiatives, clinical policy & procedure standardization, patient safety initiatives, best practice infection control guidance/implementation, Epic Healthy Planet provider engagement, and provider/clinic education on quality programs for UHA and Affinity providers.
The RN Quality Consultant works collaboratively with others throughout UHA and Stanford to design and implement the systems consistent with group policies, standards and goals.

What you will do

  • Population Health Initiatives:
  • Serves as the primary quality clinician regarding UHA population health initiatives. Serves as the lead clinician in developing/revising the population health program to proactively manage chronic disease for defined UHA populations.
  • Serves as a resource and support to the Population Health Coordinators.
  • Collaborates with clinic staff to develop informational/educational materials appropriate for the patient population to address care gaps and improve quality performance. In partnership with the clinic leadership, develops, plans, and evaluates written materials and staff training/orientation. Assesses learning needs of patient populations and develops curriculum accordingly.
  • Works in partnership with UHA Quality Project Manager and Quality Analyst to define populations, identify gaps in care from Epic generated reports, and develop approach to outreach to identified patients and clinicians where appropriate.
  • Works with Director of Clinical Quality and physician leaders to develop Epic bulk outreach programs.
  • Perform detailed case review of medical records to determine compliance with quality measures and/or standards of care.
  • Works with Quality Team to determine Affinity clinic performance/adherence to Healthy Planet utilization adherence.
  • Clinical Standards Initiatives:
  • In collaboration with the UHA physicians and clinics, develops clinical policies & procedures to ensure standardization and regulatory compliance. May serve as Co-Chair of Clinical Policy & Procedure Committee.
  • Serves as clinical expert for patient safety and provides education regarding patient safety initiatives.
  • Partners with the Environmental Health and Safety Department in policies and procedures affecting patient, provider, and staff safety.
  • Develops and monitors the UHA incident reporting system. Ensures timely follow-up of incidents providers, clinics, risk, compliance, environmental health and safety, human resources, and others as needed.
  • May serve as Co-chair of the Patient Safety & Grievances Committee.
  • Serves as clinical liaison and clinical expert to a variety of committee and sub-committees as needed. Examples include: EHS Committee, Injury & Illness Committee, Imaging Committee, Forms Committee, and others.
  • Develops in-depth clinical reviews of specific cases (as needed) for physician peer review.
  • May serve as clinical quality liaison on QICC
  • Partners with clinic administrator/managers to implement evidence-based best practices surrounding infection control, patient safety, and clinical standards.
  • Other:
  • Manages information utilizing appropriate manual or electronic systems. Maintains confidentiality and documents clinical information accurately and completely and within specified time. Designs systems for data collection to be used for clinical or operations performance measurements.
  • Maximizes productivity by focusing on goals, purpose, and priorities. Completes written reports and projects within appropriate time frames. Reviews tasks, sets priorities, and revises plans for effective time management.
  • All other duties as assigned including department-specific functions and responsibilities:
  • Performs other duties as assigned and participates in organization projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to safety, P4P's (if applicable), HIPAA and compliance policies.

Education Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.

Experience Qualifications
  • Minimum three (3) years of clinical experience in a hospital or clinic setting.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Verbal and written communication skills demonstrate courtesy, compassion and helpfulness in a professional manner towards employees, patients and patient families.
  • Basic Windows skills to include keyboarding, mouse movement and computer data entry skills to enter patient information.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement new programs/projects with focus on continuous process improvement across multiple projects at multiple sites concurrently.
  • Knowledge of HEDIS measures and their accompanying specifications.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, influencing, teamwork, project and time management skills required.
  • Knowledge of licensure/scope of practice.
  • Competency in computer systems and software used in functional area including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of statistical analysis and reporting practices pertaining to quality improvement and program evaluation.
  • Committed to own continuous education, and networking with affiliate institutions, organizations or associations and other health care providers, to stay in touch with developments and trends in health care market as it relates to best practices in the areas of quality and risk.
  • Effectively establishes and maintains collaborative working relationships with the medical staff, management team and staff to achieve best practice outcomes, improve clinical performance and corrective action plan response.
  • Improves responsiveness and relations with all customers, including patients and their families, faculty and community physicians, other participating providers, affiliated health plans, staff, regulatory and accrediting bodies.
  • Experience working with EPIC.
  • Organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to work with others in a flexible, cooperative and collaborative manner.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $65.73 - $87.10 per hour
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
