POSITION SUMMARY

The Clean Up Team Member will repair, re-build, or fix components on fire apparatus using skills from every aspect of Rosenbauer production process. They will perform various department duties to complete difficult objectives to finish the fire apparatus. Also, they will work on fabrication, plumbing, electrical, and finish products.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

All employees are required to support Rosenbauer's Mission, Vision, and Values. The following are the essential duties of this position and do not include marginal functions that are incidental to the performance of fundamental job duties. The scope and duties of a given position may change or be temporarily altered based on the business needs of Rosenbauer.

  1. Repairs, rebuilds, or fixes components on fire apparatus using skills from every aspect of Rosenbauer production process.
  2. Performs various department duties to complete difficult objectives to finish the fire apparatus.
  3. Works on fabrication, plumbing, electrical, chassis frame, axles, air brakes, and finish products.
  4. Utilizes basic hand tools, grinders, sanders, torch, and other tools to complete the objective on the fire apparatus.
  5. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the organization and our members.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma/GED.

Preferred Education:

  • None.

Required Experience:

  • Extensive experience and knowledge in multiple departments (Electrical, Body Fabrication, and Finish).
  • Experience with the whole process of building a fire truck.
  • 5 years of experience at Rosenbauer.

Preferred Experience:

  • None.

Position Requirements:

  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
  • Able to follow written and verbal directions and do so with a positive attitude.
  • Able to read and work from blueprints/spec book.
  • Ability to identify quality issues and recognize changes within one's production process and make the needed adjustments.
  • Ability to read a tape measure accurately and precisely and have a basic understanding on how to use basic hand tools, shear, and brake press.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well in a team environment.
  • You recognize the importance and adherence to all safety policies in order to promote a safe working environment, for everyone at the organization.
  • Understand the need to support the organization to work effectively by adhering to the attendance and punctuality standards and does not burden co-workers and supervisors unfairly with unnecessary and unplanned absences and lateness.
  • Able to work professionally with customers and vendors.
  • Must be willing to travel occasionally to complete business objectives in the field.
  • Extensive experience and talent.
  • Must be able to professionally work with vendors and customers.
  • Proven track record of dependability and punctuality.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills:

  • Ability to perform simple tasks, such as typing a letter and using basic commands such as setting tabs, opening and closing files, simple formulas.
  • Prior experience with a computer terminal and/or PC.

Decision Making:

  • Responsibilities are guided by general company principles and objectives.
  • There is broad latitude for making decisions with primary control over results that are reviewed at completion.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position is in a general shop where different tasks are completed and has access to all welfare facilities. The temperature varies due to the building not being temperature controlled and can be humid at times. There is also constant noise with all the machines that are used inside the shop which will cause a difficulty of hearing. Besides noise, some of the machines produce vibrations when being used. Most of the hazards come from machines but following proper procedures should minimize risk. This position may require contact with corrosives/oil/detergents but by following safety procedures, risk should be minimized. Sometimes this position requires to be above floor level and work in confined spaces.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires standing, walking, and the use of hands for the entire shift. It can become very loud in the shop with many machines being used at once. With constant noise, talking or hearing can be difficult. During shifts, some projects require the use of feet, arms, legs, hands, and fingers for over 60 minutes at a time. This position requires reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. The use of knees, back, and shoulders can range from 30 to 60 minutes. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, ability to adjust focus, and good depth perception. All positions require the ability to lift 50 pounds.
