The purpose of this position is to serve as Publix's lead on-site construction representative and primary field advisor to the Retail Construction Manager, independently providing oversight, coordination, and guidance to construction contractors and subcontractors in building multiple, simultaneous new stores, remodels, and special projects in a safe, timely, and high quality manner. This position ensures projects are executed on schedule and according to plans, specifications, and industry construction standards, providing clarification and clarification and direction to contractors to resolve issues and keep projects on track. Further, this position provides scope change recommendations to ensure projects meet retail operational and/or local municipality requirements.
This position is the lead on-site representative of Publix for all construction projects. Due to the high volume and geographic dispersion of our projects, the incumbent in this position is oftentimes the sole Publix Facilities associate on site and therefore makes independent decisions and represents Publix when interfacing directly with numerous vendors, contractors, Store Managers, District Managers, and Regional Directors across all projects. Although this associate may sometimes seek high level guidance or approval, typical decisions they make are autonomous and the directions given to our contractors and vendors have a direct impact on the value, quality and timeliness of the facilities turned over to Publix at job completion.
Responsibilities include:
- acting as lead on-site Publix Construction representative for owned and leased new stores and shopping centers, responsible for independently providing field-level oversight, coordination, and guidance to construction contractors and subcontractors in building multiple simultaneous new stores and shopping centers (up to 10 concurrent large scale new store projects overseen by a single Retail Construction Supervisor) in a safe, timely, high quality manner
- acting as lead on-site Publix Construction representative for existing store remodels and special projects, responsible for independently providing field-level oversight, coordination, and guidance to construction contractors and subcontractors in remodeling multiple simultaneous existing stores (up to 15 concurrent remodel/special projects overseen by a single Retail Construction Supervisor, in addition to new stores) in a safe, timely, high quality manner
- keeping projects on schedule to support Corporate 3-Year Plan and retail sales projections through daily coordination with contractors, subcontractors, vendors, Store Managers, Design Managers, Maintenance Coordinators, Refrigeration Coordinators, Merchandisers, and Information Systems Technology Support (ISTS) Supervisors
- for providing "eyes and ears" support and advice from the field to Construction Manager
- providing guidance and mentoring to Senior Retail Setup Coordinators as needed during more technically complicated new stores, remodels, and special projects
