Summary:
Senior College and Career Advisor (DYCD programs) is responsible for working with students to develop a plan for success in school; in the workplace; and in their future personal and professional endeavors. This position provides guidance and support to help clients meet their school and Career goals including implementation of research-based assessments and curricula. Some supervisory responsibility may be required
Essential Functions:
- Monitor student academic progress; communicate with appropriate personnel; and schedule interventions as necessary to ensure school matriculation/graduation.
- Develop goals with students, assist in their success, and follow up quarterly.
- Implement skill-building curriculum and research-based assessment.
- Advocate for students’ rights and well-being, and teach self-advocacy skills.
- Build and sustain relationships with family members, school personnel, and other service providers to address issues impacting student performance and success.
- Participate in and help plan student activities such as school tours, trips, and events.
- Educate, advise, and support students and parents about post-secondary options including college, technical school, and employment possibilities.
- Publicize information about standardized tests and assist as necessary in process.
- Maintain documentation of goals, report cards, case notes, and portfolio artifacts.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Provide task supervision to Youth Advocate related to service coordination, delivery, and required documentation. Minimum Qualifications Required
- Licensed NYS Teacher
- 3 years’ direct teaching experience working with youth and young adults
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective conflict resolution skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to prioritize, adhere to timelines and multi-task.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
