Job description

RESEARCH SPECIALIST, DAVOS ALZHEIMER'S, School of Medicine, Anatomy & Neurobiology Tracking Code24500564630411Job Description

Progress against Alzheimer's requires a comprehensive, multidimensional understanding of the condition. Today, too little is known about Alzheimer's and its variable causes to produce comprehensive assessments of the disease's heterogeneity around the world. This is in part because nearly 90% of genetic analysis has been conducted on white populations of Western European legacy, while 90% of the world's population is not of Western European origin. The lack of diversity of populations studied limits our collective ability to identify new targets for drug development as well as to implement precision medicine approaches to Alzheimer's. In our foundational phase, the Global Cohort Development (GCD) team of DAC aims to create an accessible global data resource as well as open-source data processing and analytic tools that can be used by researchers anytime and anywhere. In partnership with cohorts worldwide, we will enable useable high quality, detailed data on a well-characterized diverse population. Importantly, it will include populations from low and middle-income countries to increase the heterogeneity of the populations under study, and it will be paired with well-established cohorts to create understanding of the ideal cohort sample composition. The Davos Alzheimer's Collaborative (DAC) is convened by The Global CEO Initiative on Alzheimer's Disease and the World Economic Forum. The partnership reflects their joint commitment to helping develop a global response to Alzheimer's. Learn more at https://www.davosalzheimerscollaborative.org/. We seek RESEARCH SPECIALISTs to help us with our goal of helping the world find viable prevention and treatment solutions for this devastating disease. Each Research Specialist will work within the team to help setup the infrastructure of the GCD initiatives, interact with research institutions and companies allied with DAC, and help implement the GCD strategic plan. Research Specialists with fluency in languages of our participating cohorts will serve as liaisons to on-board them into the DAC GCD while building their contributions and influence in the Alzheimer's disease research community. Positions are available for immediate hire.
