Form of workThe Center for Health Systems Effectiveness (CHSE) at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) is devoted to transforming health systems through actionable cross-disciplinary and collaborative research. CHSE is committed to providing a welcoming, inclusive work environment that promotes diversity.The Senior Healthcare Measures Analyst is responsible for maintaining and building upon an internal repository of healthcare quality, utilization and cost measures. The analyst codes and updates measures according to specifications from such stewards as NCQA (HEDIS), AHRQ (PQI), state Medicaid agencies, and others.
When no pre-existing measure specifications exist for particular outcomes of interest, the analyst assists and consults with research project teams in the creation of custom measure definitions. Measure code development occurs primarily using R, while utilizing OHSU's computing cluster. The analyst executes the measure code on large administrative claims datasets, and helps provide access to measure results to project teams, while ensuring access permissions align with data use agreements.
This position requires effective collaboration with colleagues, innovation and problem-solving at all stages of work, as well as rigourous documentation of methods and other practices to ensure validity and reproducibility of results. This position plays a critical supportive role across numerous CHSE research projects.+ Master's Degree in relevant field AND 3 years of relevant experience OR + Bachelor's Degree in relevant field AND 5 years of relevant experience + Robust knowledge of claims-based quality, utilization and/or cost measures (e.g., HEDIS, PQIs)+ Robust experience with analysis of administrative claims data (e.g., Medicaid, Medicare and private insurance data)+ Strong coding skills using R+ Experience working in Linux/Unix environment+ Strong commitment to rigorous research methods, objectivity and accuracy of findings, and reproducibility of results+ Project management experience and ability to effectively run large collaborative projects+ Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues on work products, problem-solving, etc.+ Experience analyzing TB-scale datasets + Proficient coding skills in SQL and Bash+ Knowledge of cluster computing techniques+ Understanding of Git usage and repository management+ Knowledge of software development best practices#LI-CC1Oregon Health & Science University values a diverse and culturally competent workforce.
