As a Research Director (RD) at Edelman Data & Intelligence (DXI), you will be leading teams working on multiple primary and secondary research projects concurrently across a variety of sectors and methodologies, focusing specifically on qualitative, quantitative, media monitoring, measurement, and analytics.
Candidates must have a robust understanding of public relations, media research, primary and secondary research, data visualization, and communications. The RD position requires a proven track record of effective resource and project planning as well as exceptional communication skills and an ability to manage and collaborate with teams comprised of both junior analysts and senior stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have excellent people and project management skills and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. The Research Director will need to balance an ever-changing and diverse range of research projects, timelines, and expectations while demonstrating a strong collaborative spirit coupled with a solutions-oriented mindset. RDs at DXI consult with key senior stakeholders; therefore, candidates must demonstrate expertise in PR measurement strategies and consistent client-focused recommendations.

- Work closely with senior leadership to manage large-scale and/or global research projects including day-to-day management of clients and Edelman teams, development and execution of research studies from start to finish, and presenting results in a compelling and visually appealing way
- Work closely with the account teams to clearly define research objectives, analyze data, write research reports, recommend measurement methodologies or KPIs, assign and coordinate production staff, and outline associated budgets and timelines for delivery
- Act as primary client contact responsible for overall client satisfaction and quality control on deliverables
- Lead the analysis and interpretation of data and work closely with research teams to create a compelling story that meets client objectives
- Create and present insightful, visually compelling deliverables that clearly and concisely answer client objectives and provide value to the client, including detailed findings, implications, and strategic recommendations
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the client's business, products, and services along with the broader industry, particularly related to client objectives
- Help strengthen the team's secondary expertise by driving innovation and sharing knowledge throughout the network
- Supervise and mentor junior staff to help grow their research, project, and client management skills
- Coordinate with third-party vendors, outside agencies, or global team members when required
- Step in to support the team in executing crisis monitoring, overflow production work, or general load balancing when needed
- Build and nurture relationships with colleagues and external clients through networking and communication skills
Basic Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in either Primary an/or Secondary research within Communications Marketing, Market Research, and/or related fields
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with primary research, both quantitative and qualitative, such as research design, sampling plans, questionnaires, moderator guides, and analytical plans
- Experience with secondary research and media monitoring and measurement techniques and standards, such as benchmarking, measurement programs, media analyses, desktop research, literature reviews, influencer identification, trends identification, and/or crisis reporting
- Substantial hands-on traditional and social media listening experience, audience analysis, or data/statistical analysis, preferably with exposure to consumer insights and media research
- Project management skills, with the ability to manage medium to large-scale projects from start to finish
- Ability to effectively structure, communicate, and present both measurement and research findings through compelling data visualizations and storytelling
- Familiarity with media monitoring tools and Boolean logic, and ability to craft complex search taxonomies and assess their efficacy
- Expert knowledge of relevant tools, such as:
- Media listening tools: Brandwatch, TalkWalker, Synthesio, Cision, NetBase
- Audience profiling: Statista, Global Web Index, Demographics Pro
- Search and web: Similar Web, Google AdWords
- Data analysis: Quid, Google Analytics, Tableau
- Trends analysis: eMarketer, Mintel, Google Trends, WARC
- Talent for fostering a sense of community and team in a matrix organization
- Ability to converse with all levels within the organization, including senior executives
$86,000 - $133,000 a year
An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, travel requirements, revenue-based metrics, any contractual agreements, and business or organizational needs. The range listed is just one component of DJEH's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, a Paid Time Off policy, and region-specific benefits.
