Social Policy Research Associates, Inc. (SPR) is seeking a full-time Director of Finance & Administration, (DF&A). The DF&A will have key responsibilities for administrative support functions, including Accounting and Finance, Contract Administration, Information Technology, Group Benefits functions and Facilities.

Essential Duties will include a mix of the following:
- Accounting and Financial Management, including supervision of GL accounting, timesheet compliance, payroll, AP and AR, monthly financial reporting, expense report processing and compliance, relationship management with audit and tax firms, ERISA Plan trustees, record keepers, and TPAs.
- Compiling and submitting reports, analyzing trends, and assessing SPR’s financial health.
- Cash management, control, and reporting.
- Risk management and insurance administration.
- Information Technology, including ensuring the adequate maintenance of office equipment, telecommunications and systems, monitoring of inventory; management and tracking of technology requests, management of technology contractor.
- Proposal budget review.
- Contracts Administration oversight, including management and supervision of Contracts Coordinator.
- Human Resources, including on-boarding of new employees, Employee Benefits (Health and Welfare administration, ESOP and 401k administration, PTO).
- Facilities, including office supplies and mail, space planning, safety and emergency preparedness, and acquisition of equipment and supplies. Additionally, position manages relationships with vendors (building, janitorial service) and ensures that organization's standards and needs are met.
- Carrying out other duties as assigned.
Skills & Competencies of Focus:
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of GAAP; familiarity with CAS a plus.
- Familiarity with FAR
- Experience managing data integrity of an ERP system.
- Ability to work in a deadline driven environment with demanding internal clients.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of SPR staff.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS/BA; concentration in business administration, finance, or accounting a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in a comparable role, ideally including supervision of functions of accounting, IT, risk management, contracts, human resources, and facilities.
- Industry experience in a professional services or related industry
- Previous supervisory experience in an office environment and in a remote environment
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent computer skills, including ERP, accounting applications, MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Ability to independently manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to work professionally and productively within a team context, including excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions

- The DF&A must possess mobility to perform work in office like settings, to use standard office equipment, including extensive use of a computer, and to attend meetings at various sites; strength to lift and carry materials and equipment up to 40 pounds, vision to read printed materials and computer screens; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
- The DF&A must possess a valid Driver License and be able to operate a motor vehicle. Position may include time out of the office.
The Location: SPR staff members can work remotely from locations in California, Florida, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Oregon, and Pennsylvania. Employees who live within commuting distance from the downtown Oakland California office can also work from full to part-time from the company’s Oakland offices.
Salary Range in Oakland, CA: $150,000 to $175,000, depending on experience. Remote staff compensation outside of the San Francisco Bay Area is subject to geographic adjustment based on local cost of labor and cost of living rates.
