Under supervision and following established policies and procedures supports qualitative and quantitative studies in collaboration with faculty staff and students. Collects and analyzes data using Redcap and qualitative software. Reviews literature in the field for informational purposes or to gather data.
This position will focus primarily on the topics of harm reduction illicit substance use and overdose. The ideal candidate should have knowledge of current harm reduction trends or proactively seek basic understanding of these trends. Under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator the Research Assistant will conduct specific assigned research activities.
Responsibilities:
The RA duties may include but not be limited to:
? Participant recruitment interviewing and transcript coding.
? Supporting the preparation of IRB submission documents.
? Literature reviews and management of online documents.
? Assisting with data entry and ensuring quality of information collected for research including management of protected health information (PHI) in accordance with hospital policy and state and federal law.
? Support the programing of data collection instruments using REDCap data collection software.
? Schedule prepare for participate in and notetake during regular team meetings.
? Attend educational trainings related to research topics as assigned.
? Working independently as well as in collaboration with a diverse research team completing various administrative tasks with keen attention to detail.
? Contributing to the preparation of human subject�s research protocols for Institutional Review Board (IRB) review working in compliance with IRB policies as well as preparing manuscripts for peer reviewed publications.
? Support the development of dissemination materials including presentations infographics and research papers
? Engaging in community based data collection eligibility screening and compensation.
Other information:
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree required; academic concentration in sociology anthropology public health health science psychology or related field preferred.
Basic computer knowledge and ability to use PC software i.e. proficiency in typing and word processing utilizing spreadsheets for data management and data entry and using email required.
Excellent ability to gather and synthesize qualitative information strong writing skills and demonstrated attention to detail required.
EXPERIENCE:
Prior research experience preferably in public health or related fields strongly preferred.
Interviewing and surveying experience preferred.
Experience in academic writing is preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Able to function in an office environment. Requires walking navigation of stairs and standing intermittently throughout the day. Sufficient visual acuity and manual dexterity to use computers and other common equipment.
INDEPENDENT ACTION:
Performs independently within the department's policies and practices. Refers specific complex problems to the supervisor when clarification of the departmental policies and procedures are required.
