IAG is a worldwide function with 200+ team members and offices across nine countries within American Express. We are committed to growing our audit staff significantly as we continue to expand and enhance the Internal Audit Group. Our assurance and risk professionals have diverse backgrounds including internal controls, consumer compliance, technology, operational risk, financial accounting, data analytics, and banking operations. Most IAG team members hold at least one professional certification. Our audit teams align to key risk areas and business units to ensure IAG can provide comprehensive and risk-based audit coverage. In addition, IAG has a Professional Practices group responsible for managing audit operations, quality, and standards; regulatory relations; reporting; training and professional development; and key internal capabilities and technologies.
Overview of the IAG Investigations team
American Express' Internal Audit Group Investigations team plays a critical role in ensuring that American Express complies with the certain requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. As part of that process, the team is responsible for investigating unusual or irregular activities, including suspected and actual cases of internal fraud, Code of Conduct violations and other improprieties. The team is also responsible for the reporting of Whistleblower claims, Significant Ethics Violations, and certain instances of Fraud to the Audit and Compliance Committee of the Board of Directors. We seek professionals that have diverse backgrounds including investigations, Internal Audit, data analytics, technology, internal controls, compliance, operational risk and financial accounting to support investigations globally, across all lines of business and functional areas of American Express.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Production of the monthly metric reporting for ongoing operational investigation activities and key performance drivers
  • Production of monthly investigation client and business partner reporting packages for senior leadership across all business units and staff groups
  • Production of audit committee, monthly management reports, presentations, and supporting information
  • Performance of quality reviews and validating data to ensure Report output
  • Support Director and Lead Investigators in conducting investigations and project objectives including gathering and assessing evidence, and conducting fact-finding interviews
Minimum Qualifications
  • 2+ years MIS/reporting work experience
  • College degree in Accounting, Finance, or advanced related field
  • Highly proficient MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills
  • Proficiency extracting MIS from MS Excel, case management systems, as well as Power BI, Tableau, SQL and other databases
  • Strong and effective written and verbal communications, relationship building, planning and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to support multiple concurrent activities and interface with management and external / internal teams
  • Ability to work independently in a team construct, while supporting teamwork and achievement of team objectives
  • Strong analytical, decision-making and collaboration skills
  • Ability to support a wide variety of financial and accounting-oriented forensic investigation

Preferred Qualifications
  • Investigations Experience a plus
  • Fluency in second language

Qualifications
Salary Range: $55,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
