Job Description/Scop of Work:
The Medical Credentialing Assistant provides remote credentialing support services to the Ute Mountain Ute Health Center, including managing the application process, tracking expiration dates, and preparing credentialing files for the Medical Executive Committee.
Responsibilities:
· Provide Remote Medical Credentialing assistance services to the Ute Mountain Ute Health Center (UMUHC) in Towaoc, Colorado
· Demonstrate knowledge and familiarity with electronic credentialing software programs such as MD Staff
· Communicate clearly with the UMUHC Clinical Director, Albuquerque Area Credentialing Consultant, and CEO on all credentialing activities
· Coordinate the application process for all credentialed providers, including initiating and accepting applications and verifying education, training, licensure, specialty boards, National Practitioner Data Bank reports, etc.
· Ensure privileges requested are consistent with education and training requirements for each position
· Assemble verified information and prepare credentialing files for the Medical Executive Committee within required timeframes
· Monitor and track expiration dates of professional licensure, DEA licensure, prescribing licensure, basic life support certification, and obtain primary source verification on all initial applications, reappointment applications, and renewals
· Notify credentialed staff members approximately 3 months before term of appointment expiration to initiate reappointment process
· Maintain confidentiality and follow all applicable privacy laws, Service Unit bylaws, rules, and regulations regarding credentialing materials and files
Qualifications:
· Certifications with Medical Credentialing software programs such as MD Staff
· At least 2 years of experience providing Medical Credentialing assistance services or similar services
· Thorough understanding of credentialing and privileging requirements for a variety of medical providers including Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Advanced Practice Nurses, Dentists, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, and Telehealth providers
· Excellent communication and organizational skills
· Ability to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines
· Knowledge of HIPAA, Privacy Act, and other applicable regulations governing Medical Credentialing
Work Schedule:
· This position typically requires 10-16 hours per week, with shifts typically on Wednesdays and Thursdays for 8 hours per day
