Position: Head of Human Resources

Key Deliverables for the Role
- Develop and implement effective Human Resources strategies that support national and local state operations to scale the organization over the coming years.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, diversity, inclusion, and social responsibility within the organization.
- Collaborate with the CEO and C-Suite to develop core values to inform the culture of CAA.
- Shape, align and implement the company’s mid- and long-term talent strategies for the Human Resources function, to include leadership development, talent management, organizational development and culture management to address key organizational needs and efforts required as the company scales as well as for continued growth.
Recruitment, Benefits, and Compensation
- Lead recruitment and onboarding processes to ensure the company hires qualified and diverse candidates who share the company’s passion for recycling and sustainability. Support the recruitment of the CEO and senior executive team of the organization.
- Prepare relevant job aids to aid states and other departments to drive scaled hiring across the organization.
- Ensure setup and proper administration of a competitive compensation and benefits programs.
- Partner with the Chief Information Officer to support development of a company wide enterprise system that includes HR data and tools.
Talent Development/Management
- Plan and coordinate intial performance management, training, and development initiatives to enhance employee skills, engagement, and retention.
- Handle employee relations issues and provide guidance and support to managers and employees on HR matters.
- Build tools and processes to capture and track employee records and documentation and ensure accuracy and confidentiality.
- Design, build and ultimately lead an enterprise-wide talent management and OD strategy to drive an integrated approach to succession management, executive and leadership development, learning and performance management.
Financial and Vendor Management
- Oversee the overall people plan including the talent pipeline, the HR budget, and oversee people related investments in systems.
- Oversee relevant HR related contractors until such time as an HR department can be built.
Policies and Procedures:
- Work with the national organization to set annual operating budgets, update relevant forecasts, and manage the financial performance of the state level organization.
- Identify approaches to manage costs, improve efficiency, and leverage the national services to avoid replicating costs and resources.
- Establish and manage producer fee setting for Colorado and be able to communicate and explain as needed.
Talent Management:
- Develop the policies and procedures for the organization.
- Monitor and analyze HR metrics and data to evaluate the effectiveness of HR policies and practices and identify areas for improvement over time.
Experience and Professional Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Human Resources Lead or senior HR executive preferably in waste management, supply chain, manufacturing or similar industries.
- Experience with starting up departments and development policies, procedures, and practices required.
- Demonstrated ability to build, develop, lead and engage strong teams, with direct or indirect reporting lines.
- Knowledge of state, and federal employment laws.
- Ability to work under pressure and address escalations and situations as they occur, making appropriate decisions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Diplomacy in dealing with sensitive information or situations.
- Commitment to environmental conservation and a passion for creating a positive impact on the planet.
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment for rapid pace and with flexibility.
- Environmental NGO experience a plus but not required.
