Department Information

Georgia Tech Human Resources (GTHR) serves the Institute and its more than 14,000 employees through strategic counsel, employee engagement, and essential human capital management operations. As the people's unit, GTHR is engaged throughout the employee's lifetime at Georgia Tech. Our team works with sensitive employee information and assists in the management of complex employee issues. What we do:
    Process payroll and maintain employment data for approximately 14,000 active faculty, staff, and studentsStrive to attract, recruit, and retain the best talent in the marketplace.Provide immigration, labor, and tax support required for foreign national faculty and staff to work at Georgia Tech and support employees performing services overseas.Leverage a market-driven compensation structure to attract and retain employees.Advise employees and managers regarding work performance and conflict management.
Job Summary

Develop, manage, and lead strategies for the Institute's employee benefit and retirement programs. Manage the administration of the Institute's benefits, health and welfare, and retirement plans and programs, including medical, dental, vision, flexible spending, disability, and life insurance, leaves of absence, work/life programs, Teacher's Retirement System pension (TRS), Optional Retirement Plan (OSP), and supplemental voluntary retirement plans (403 & 457). Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing employee performance, providing feedback, and making pay recommendations. This position will interact on a regular basis with Campus department leaders, HR managers and representatives, faculty, staff, and vendors. This position typically will advise and counsel Department leaders, faculty, vendors, and benefits staff. This position will supervise assigned staff.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -

Plan and direct the implementation and administration of benefits and retirement programs.

Job Duty 2 -

Advise, consult, and serve as a member of the HR leadership team in the development and execution of short-term and long-range plans and budgets based on strategic goals and planning and implementing organizational initiatives. Evaluate and analyze the results of the programs and services regularly and report results to senior leadership.

Job Duty 3 -

Review and analyze the benefits and retirement market to determine employee needs, trends, regulations, and practices and develop competitive programs and services to align with University System of Georgia requirements.

Job Duty 4 -

Plan and supervise activities and personnel related to the Institute's benefit plans and programs administration. Manage benefits and retirement staff, including hiring, goal setting, performance reviews, training, customer service, and coaching.

Job Duty 5 -

Facilitate departmental/campus meetings on benefits/benefit-related and retirement technical initiatives. Coordinate and deliver mass and targeted education for eligible and current plan participants for Institute benefits, work-life, and well-being plans and programs.

Job Duty 6 -

Manage health/welfare benefit plan and retirement program administration, including associated reporting, data management, communication efforts, and vendor relationship management.

Job Duty 7 -

Provide project management for Benefits Open Enrollment and Retirement Planning as well as other Institute and University System of Georgia initiatives.

Job Duty 8 -

Interpret benefit and retirement plan documents, Institute and University System of Georgia policies, and government regulations. Ensure the Institute is compliant with applicable federal, state, and local state regulations related to benefits and retirement. Promote adherence to Institute and University System of Georgia policies.

Job Duty 9 -

Counsel employees on benefit and/or retirement-related matters. Communicate decisions to individuals and groups related to policy. Directly prepare and distribute written and verbal information to inform employees of benefits programs.

Job Duty 10 -

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience

Five to seven years of job-related experience.

Proposed Salary

Pay Range: $93,869-$127,655/yr

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

KNOWLEDGE

Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), PeopleSoft systems, and familiarity with Banner.

SKILLS

Knowledge of benefits administration and advanced skills in analyzing data, vendor management, and contract management. Previous experience in HR practices. Excellent communication, negotiation, and Conflict Management. Problem-solving, change management, leadership, and project management skills. Discretion and ethical conduct. Also required are skills in organizing and planning¿previous supervisory and management experience.
