Position Purpose:

Manages the recruitment, selection, and enrollment of outstanding students to the Geisel School of Medicine’s Health Science programs.

Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp:

Bachelors plus 3-5 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Bachelor’s degree in higher education, marketing, advertising, or business communications.
  • 3-5 years of experience, preferably in higher education admissions.
  • Knowledge of educational programming, undergraduate student affairs, and/or project management gained through a liberal arts or business degree
  • Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills as well as confidence and clarity in public speaking.
  • Able to build strong relationships within Geisel School of Medicine and Dartmouth and with partner institutions, including officials at other colleges and universities, recruiters, and corporate sponsors.
  • Effective decision-making skills based on analysis, experience, and judgment.
  • Able to travel and work some evening and weekend commitments.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality on various sensitive information and materials.
  • Proficient in using CRM applications and other technology resources (e.g., Slate, Handshake) to achieve goals. Strong project management, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Commitment to support, contribute to and strengthen a vibrant, culturally diverse and inclusive learning community of students, alumni, faculty and fellow professionals.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of team, remains calm under pressure, and responds positively to change.
  • Able to proactively identify and pursue relevant learning and professional development opportunities and apply new knowledge, insights, and skills to enhance results.
  • Proficiency with MS Office software including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Understanding of public health systems and careers.
  • Optimism, high energy and a sense of humor are valuable assets.
  • Evidence of a collaborative style in a project-based setting.

Description:

Student Recruitment

  • Effectively communicates the value proposition (verbally and in writing) of the Geisel Health Sciences programs in various situations, including conversations and emails with individuals or small groups.
  • Develops and delivers in-person, virtual, and hybrid recruitment events, including group presentations at partner institutions and hosting tabling sessions at school fairs.
  • Oversees on-campus events for prospective and admitted students.
  • In conjunction with the Admissions Manager, plans and executes recruitment events.

Admissions

  • Independently evaluates applicant files for interviews and conducts applicant interviews.
  • Organizes and manages the admissions and interview committee members.
  • Makes recommendations for and participates in decision-making on admission and scholarship awards.
  • Independently administers admissions business operations and systems in Slate.
  • Creates and maintains reports needed to analyze candidate pool data and direct future recruiting efforts toward admissions and enrollment priorities.

Description:

Partnership Development

  • Sources, forms, and strengthens partnerships with undergraduate programs and institutional partners to grow the pool of prospective students and achieve enrollment targets.
  • Recruits and trains alumni and current students to be ambassadors for the program.
  • Partners with others across Dartmouth to leverage contacts and identify opportunities to promote the program.
