About this Position:
As an Engineer in Auto Development Center, Frame Business Unit, we are responsible for designing and developing the vehicle chassis, components, exterior, and interior, to meet model performance, safety, reliability, profitability, and manufacturing requirements, while crafting the envisioned multisensory experience for our drivers and passengers. For a CAE Engineer III role, you will take ownership and more of a leadership role when it comes to designing a complex part, overseeing testing activities, and/or leading a minor model change project for your department. Responsibilities include the use of finite element analysis, CAE or other method of prediction as required by test type. Additional responsibilities include development and implementation of countermeasures, completing and presenting final reports based on failure analysis, meeting schedule deadlines and project coordination. Candidate will work closely with other test groups, technical leaders, designers, and team members to understand scope of work and schedule.
Responsibilities include:
- Proficient using CAE/CFD tools to execute analysis and decide assigned specification setting and requirement confirmation activities.
- Produces accurate CAE/CFD outcomes utilizing best practices and seeks learning opportunities where outcomes have opportunity for improvement.
- Produces quality modeling, analysis, and reporting, with customer in mind.
- Develop appropriate countermeasure plans and work closely with design departments for implementation.
- Communicates with team and leadership about CAE implementation.
- Creates concise and logical technical presentations.
- Test validation and investigations related to FE models and test requirements when necessary.
- Proactively seeks ways to engage in continuous improvement.
- May be a Project Lead for R-theme activity.
Who we are seeking:
Required Work Experience:
- Bachelor of Science and 3-6 years of engineering experience or Master of Science and 0-3 years of engineering experience
Required Education:
- Bachelor of Science degree in: Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or other related field required.
Desired skills:
- Proficient with 1D CAE, 3D CAE, or steady state and time dependent CFD, and programming language software.
- Knowledge of CAE software, such as ANSA Hypermesh, ANSA and IS-DYNA, ABAQUS, Nastran, and nCode.
- CATIA V6 knowledge.
- Understanding of system and component performance analysis using CAE or CFD.
- Ability to present complex concepts as simple summaries.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Acoustic full scale wind tunnel testing experience desired for CFD roles.
- Ability to validate simulation results with real world practical applications.
- Experience with Star CCM and/or Powerflow for CFD roles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project as well as AutoCAD and SketchUp.
Additional Position Factors:
- Ability to work overtime may be required.
- Ability to travel (within US and Japan) may be required.
