Regional Mds Coordinator - Cantex Continuting Care Network - Houston

Job Summary:  

The overall purpose of the Regional MDS Coordinator position is to ensure appropriate reimbursement of Medicare and/or Medicaid Patients through the Patient Assessment Instrument (RAI) process. Assists in the management of quality Patient care on a continuing basis in accordance with federal and state standards. 

Qualifications: 

• Must have a current RN/LVN license 

• 3 - 5 years MDS/RAI experience required 

• Case Mix Management experience required in a long term care setting 

• Must maintain current CPR certification 

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

• Excellent computer software skills 

• Ability to multi-task and oversee multi-facility functions on a daily basis 

• Ability to direct and lead staff of multiple facilities 

Essential Functions: 

• Review and coordinate Medicaid and Medicare Case Mix data for the region 

• Validate MDS coding, ICD-10 coding and RUG groupers 

• Conduct detailed review of documentation to assist in accurate MDS 3.0 completion to ensure the appropriate level of reimbursement through accurate resident assessment 

• Assess current processes and evaluate compliance with company standards, as well as Long Term Care regulations 

• Provide education to licensed and non-licensed staff 

• Identify opportunities and make recommendations as needed 

Continuing Education: 

• Attends in-service and continuing education programs required for maintenance of professional certification or licensure. 

• Attends continuing education programs as necessary. 

• Current AANAC Certification
