Job Summary:
The overall purpose of the Regional MDS Coordinator position is to ensure appropriate reimbursement of Medicare and/or Medicaid Patients through the Patient Assessment Instrument (RAI) process. Assists in the management of quality Patient care on a continuing basis in accordance with federal and state standards.
Qualifications:
Must have a current RN/LVN license
3 - 5 years MDS/RAI experience required
Case Mix Management experience required in a long term care setting
Must maintain current CPR certification
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent computer software skills
Ability to multi-task and oversee multi-facility functions on a daily basis
Ability to direct and lead staff of multiple facilities
Essential Functions:
Review and coordinate Medicaid and Medicare Case Mix data for the region
Validate MDS coding, ICD-10 coding and RUG groupers
Conduct detailed review of documentation to assist in accurate MDS 3.0 completion to ensure the appropriate level of reimbursement through accurate resident assessment
Assess current processes and evaluate compliance with company standards, as well as Long Term Care regulations
Provide education to licensed and non-licensed staff
Identify opportunities and make recommendations as needed
Continuing Education:
Attends in-service and continuing education programs required for maintenance of professional certification or licensure.
Attends continuing education programs as necessary.
Current AANAC Certification
