ReGeneration Schools, founded in 2016, is a nationally ranked charter program with seven K-8 charter schools located in Chicago and Cincinnati. We serve over 1800 students of whom 99% are minority and 86% are low-income. ReGeneration is expanding our network in Cincinnati by opening two campuses effective July 2023. We currently employ 200 staff — 83% of school principals identify as POC, 74% of teachers identify as POC, and are led by the CEO and Superintendents who identify as POC. Director of Talent and Human Resources
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Talent and Human Resources plays a critical role in developing and implementing the recruitment strategy for Chicago and Cincinnati that will attract and retain high quality teachers, operations, and home office staff to join our network. This individual also oversees the growing Human Resource workstreams and organizational effectiveness. Talent acquisition represents 70% of the role, and the remaining 30% of the role is human resource procedures. The Director of Talent and Human Resources manages a team of 3 recruiters and 2 human resource staff in designing creative outreach strategies while improving efficiency of systems and procedures for employee experience. This position requires in-person support at our campuses in Chicago and Cincinnati.
Key Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition
- Develop and implement a well-coordinated strategic plan and creative approach to identify and attract quality talent with a sense of urgency.
- Establish and manage national and local partnerships to support recruitment initiatives in sourcing diverse talent, increasing brand awareness of ReGeneration Schools, and building talent pipelines that are like minded and representative of our communities.
- Monitor, evaluate, and improve the effectiveness of recruitment outreach, selection process, employee on-boarding and exiting to refine talent practices, modifying processes as needed.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders (ie. school principals, superintendents, and executive leaders) in developing hiring criteria, evaluation tools, and assessment procedures to ensure staff are equipped and supported to hire personnel.
- Analyze, streamline, and leverage recruitment tools (applicant tracking systems, dashboards, complex spreadsheets, and external job boards, social media ads, etc.) to accelerate talent acquisition capabilities.
- Build and maintain a data driven recruiting team to proactively develop plans and forecast hiring needs. Analyze hiring results, metrics, and other trends to manage performance of individuals and the team through the lens of accountability.
- Partner with the Marketing team to develop recruitment messaging and social media campaign that will effectively target and promote career opportunities and move candidates to action.
- Model, coach, and develop recruitment team in a complex and high need-recruiting environment to ensure successful execution of recruitment goals and initiatives.
- Demonstrate and articulate a thorough understanding of ReGeneration Schools mission and vision, and communicate enthusiastically to partners and candidates the benefits and merits of working at ReGeneration and its schools.
Human Resource
- Oversee human resource operations and effectiveness, which include but are not limited to: benefits administration, payroll management, offer letters and on-boarding, employee relations, and HR systems and policies.
- Improve, streamline, and standardize guidelines and procedures that is quickly accessible to employees.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant state, local, and federal employment laws.
- Coordinate with legal counsel on terminations, sexual harassment, discrimination, etc.
- Develop human resource team to effectively use platforms that is timely, accurate, and accessible.

- Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Minimum of five years of relevant experience in sourcing, full-cycle recruitment, and HR management or oversight.
- Experience in charter schools is preferred.
