As a Recreation Assistant, as a valuable team member, you are responsible for executing and supervising planned resident activities that support a residents physical, emotional, mental, social, and spiritual well-being.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assure that the scheduled activity programs are executed.

Complete necessary forms as required by the department.

Encourage residents to participate in daily activities; and, provide materials and supplies as needed.

Feed and clean pets used for pet therapy as scheduled.

Assist with transportation of residents to and from activities. Follow wheelchair safety rules.

Attend in-services provided by facility and off-site as required by Activity Director.

Attend departmental planning meetings and offer ideas and suggestions for appropriate activities.

Assist more mobile and easy to transfer residents in the bathroom.

Assist residents in ordering and serving meals and feeding when necessary.

Move tables and chairs to prepare area for activities.

Clean and prepare dining area for activities, as necessary.

Assist the Activity Director on field trips.

Operate sound system, DVD?s, CD?s, etc.

Deliver mail daily to residents and read mail to those who can not read.
