We are seeking an independent and creative Data Science summer intern to join the Genomics & Data Science group at Kriya. You will contribute to Data Science and machine learning (ML) efforts in support of Kriya’s pre-clinical pipeline and platform technologies.
This 12-week internship is an excellent opportunity to gain direct experience at the intersection of Data Science and genomics. Additionally, you will have opportunities to develop a professional network, learn how to work in a scientific and engineering environment, build hands-on coding skills, and deliver presentations showcasing your work.
This role can be based at Kriya’s Silicon Valley CA or Research Triangle Park NC offices.
How You Contribute
You will collaborate with data scientists, bench scientists, and engineers to develop and deploy analytics pipelines and ML models for large genomic, molecular, manufacturing, and imaging datasets. Example projects include building interactive dashboards, implementing analyses of next-generation-sequencing datasets and manufacturing data, and building ML modeling pipelines.
What You Bring to the Team
- The ideal candidate is a PhD candidate or postdoc in a computational discipline with experience or interest in applying Data Science and/or ML to biological data. Candidates from a life science background with interest in Data Science and candidates from Data Science backgrounds with an interest in life science could both be good fits.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Python, common Data Science python libraries, and command-line tools is required. Experience with R, especially in the context of genomics and next-generation-sequencing, is a plus.
- Basic familiarity with version-control and cloud computing.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
- Work is normally performed in an office.
- Lifting requirements: Under 20 lbs
