POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Competencies:
The staff member must demonstrate knowledge of:
Ø Signs and symptoms of substance use disorder.
Ø Signs and symptoms of mental health disorder
Ø Crisis intervention services on-site and off-site, face-to-face, within the home, and community
Ø De-escalation techniques
Ø Assessing the client’s strengths and mental health needs accurately and objectively
Ø Providing selected therapeutic communication to clients
Ø Clients rights and confidentiality
Ø Typing and basic computer usage.
Ø Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays according to on-call rotation
Ø The requirement of adhering to policies and procedures of the agency and professional standards.
The staff member must demonstrate skills in:
Ø Establishing trust between clients and treatment team members.
Ø Providing information and referrals to community services both in person and via the phone
Ø Assisting in implementation of goals and objectives identified in treatment plans
Ø Interacting with clients as peers by sharing common experiences.
Ø Assisting clients in understanding and managing their disorder and symptoms.
Ø Assisting clients in connecting with self-help groups when appropriate.
Ø Assisting clients in gaining access to local programs and services.
Ø Clarifying clients’ understanding of their rights and responsibilities as a recipient of substance use disorder services.
Ø Completing all necessary as required
Ø Maintaining strict confidentiality at all times.
Ø Communication styles that generate a positive work environment.
Ø Locating, coordinating and accessing appropriate services for client.
Essential Functions:
Essential functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Ø Completion of required assessments screenings, including but not limited to the Columbia Suicide Rating Scale (CSSRS).
Ø Engage individuals in the crisis planning process and completion of a safety plan.
Ø Build rapport to support increased engagement, instillation of hope, and care coordination.
Ø Follow-up with individuals in-person, via phone, or telehealth within two days of the initial crisis intervention
Ø Provide opportunity for warm hand-offs to identified resource needs (insurance navigation, housing, benefits and entitlements, primary care, educational, or vocational supports)
Ø Provide referral to medication management to monitor medication compliance, education and training about medications, monitoring side-effects, and providing other nursing/medical assessments.
Ø Provide referral to Case Management (children’s or adult) when appropriate
Ø Act as informant and advocate to clients regarding consumer rights and responsibilities.
Ø Develop and maintain close working relationship with management staff, co-workers and peers.
Ø Participate in team staffing to provide client and peer insight.
Ø Collaborates with treatment team to increase patient engagement in treatment as evidenced by consistent attendance at huddles, weekly team meetings, staffing, clinical supervision, and with community partners.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Ø For CAPRCI applicants, per federal regulations, long-term recovery for a minimum of three years and supportive documentation is required.
Ø High school diploma or equivalent required.
Ø Completion of a Peer Recovery Coach Certification (CAPRCI) or Certified Recovery Specialist (CHW/CRS) course is required within 90 days of employment
Ø Completion of CPR is required within 30 days of employment.
Ø One year of peer coaching or related experience preferred.
Ø Valid Indiana Driver’s license, personal owned auto insurance.
Ø Successful completion of a background check.
