Recovery Care Specialist

Work in a scenic, home-like environment with a team of professionals providing comprehensive and compassionate care for adolescent and adult women who are diagnosed with eating disorders. Selah House Indiana is the only licensed inpatient, residential, and partial hospitalization program (PHP) eating disorder treatment center in the state of Indiana.

Position Summary

The Recovery Care Specialist promotes clients’ involvement in the treatment program. Recovery Care Specialists assist clients in various clinical, nutritional and administrative activities as directed, to ensure optimal client outcome. Evening hours are 6:30p-10:30p, throughout the week, every third weekend. 

Available Part Time Shifts:

• Day shifts – every 3rd weekend 
• Evening shifts – every 3rd weekend 
• Overnight shifts – 6:30p-6:30a every third weekend

Relationships and Contacts

Within the organization:  Maintains frequent and close working relationships with clients, Milieu Director, facility leadership, peers and vendors. 

Outside the organization:  May initiate and maintain working relationships with clinical providers, referral partners and vendors as needed and directed.

Position Responsibilities

Essential Responsibilities

1. Assists the daily milieu at Selah House Treatment Center, assisting with program activities, observations, charting progress/improvement/decline, etc.
2. Consistently maintains the privacy and confidentiality requirements and regulations.
3. Becomes familiar with the histories and needs of clients and identifies cues and behaviors that may indicate a change in the client’s status.
4. Under the direction of the Lead Recovery Care Specialist provides appropriate emotional support to clients.
5. Spends one on one time with clients during scheduled activities and leisure time. 
6. Communicates pertinent patient information to the Clinical Program Manager as well as to the treatment team, as appropriate.
7. Responsible for maintaining proper and timely documentation regarding client’s progress.  Alerts management and Therapists of client concerns or problems.
8. Day and evening shift Recovery Care Specialist are required to eat meals with the clients, providing role modeling healthy food and body image behaviors. 
   1. Observes client behavior during and after meals.
9. Assists in various nutritional activities including but not limited to, meal preparation, grocery shopping, meal outings, supervision of exercise and other activities assigned by the clinical staff and/or the Dietitian.
10. Demonstrates proper food safety and handling standards when preparing/serving meals to the clients.
11. Assist with housekeeping duties, including cleaning of facilities (i.e. taking out trash, loading and unloading dishwasher, laundry, running errands and other duties as assigned).
12. Assist with tours for clients, family members, students, visitors and interested parties as requested.
13. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications related to Selah House Mission and population.

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience

Position requires a 1 + years of related experience.  Bachelor’s Degree preferred.  Experience with eating disorders is strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to communicate with peers, clients and/or vendors
• Job performance will require the ability to move throughout the building as well as participate in activities outdoors and off facility grounds.
• Performs duties that require the employee to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• May sit or remain stationary for periods of time
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to talk or hear, sit, stand, walk, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, taste or smell
• Ability to move 50 pounds

Other Requirements

Position requires incumbent to have a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance.
