Receiving Clerk
Location: Silver Spring, MD
Onsite – no exceptions
Insignia Federal Group is currently seeking two (2) experienced Receiving Clerks to provide support services to a military research program.
In this role, the successful candidate will:
· Assist with performing a variety of routine shipping and receiving functions in accordance with governing policies & operating procedures. Specific tasks include:
o Identifying information on incoming or outgoing shipments with purchase orders, invoices, or other documents
o Sorting, counting packages and labels
o Insuring, unpacking, and/or logging inventory which is shipped or received
o Inspecting shipments for damages or defects
o Recording discrepancies or damages and notifying supervisor and/or purchasing personnel
o Delivering items to requisitioning departments and obtaining authorized signatures for accepted items
o Tracing lost shipments and/or customer claims of lost shipments, when applicable
o Initiating proof of delivery documents by ensuring all boxes are open and inspected upon delivery to end-users
o Maintaining department database, preparing routine reports, and filing receiving records
o Recording information of receipt and acceptance using standard forms and proper documentation to ensure all receipts are delivered to the Procurement Division
o Following established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards
o Ensuring proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies
o Promoting continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices
Required Qualifications:
· Ability to successfully undergo a background investigation that requires U.S. citizenship.
· High school diploma or GED and at least three years of experience as a Receiving Clerk.
· Ability to read and write.
· Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
· Knowledge of light equipment operation and/or maintenance.
· Ability to receive, track, and distribute materials, supplies, and equipment.
· Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
· Ability to bend, squat and lift up to 60 lbs., operate dolly, and pallet jack in loading and unloading supplies and equipment on a regular and continuing basis.
· Must be certified to operate forklift.
Desired:
· Previous federal background investigation or clearance highly desirable
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
