VerAvanti’s Advanced Catheters Team is charged with both design of SFE-based products, as well as the development of new and enabling automated manufacturing processes. As a member of the team, you will help bridge the gap between product design requirements, and capability of existing manufacturing technologies. Your primary focus will be developing manufacturing concepts into reality by designing, building and demonstrating performance of prototype-level assembly and test machines. This will require a love for technical challenge, and a willingness to go where no one has ever gone before!
As a member of one or more project teams, you will take ownership and lead the way on individual tasks, making technical recommendations and forecasting schedule. You will also serve a key role in cross-functional brainstorming and critical technical reviews. You will have a voice in setting product and equipment/process specifications for the production team. You may support other groups with additional tool/fixture design. You may also take on product design responsibilities as opportunity and aptitude provide.

Responsibilities:
- Take the lead on the detailed design of new manual and automated manufacturing tooling and processes.
- Propose and be accountable to schedule and technical milestones.
- Produce working prototypes of tools/process and demonstrate feasibility and capability.
- Support manufacturing engineering team during design transfer, and process validations.
- May take on product design opportunities also available as aptitude, interest and schedule provide.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Machine / Tool Design, using Solidworks
- Experience with all phases of design process: requirements> concept>design freeze>test.
- Familiar with constraints and tolerances of various component fabrication processes
- Be able to design to mitigate schedule and technical risk
- Also desired:
- Equipment specification, source and selection
- Capable of defining IQ/OQ/PQ requirements
- Experience designing for high-volume/high-reliability
- Automation
- Prototyping / Fabrication
- Assembly and modification of prototype (product or tooling) using standard shop equipment
- Also desired:
- Assembly of prototypes using microscope, tweezers, high level of dexterity.
- Fabrication: operate 3d printer and other (proprietary) fab and assembly machines
- Test / Inspection
- Operation of standard and custom test and measurement equipment
- Design experiments, tools and test methods to evaluate new processes and designs
- Also desired:
- Formal training in root cause diagnosis, DOE, validations, etc
- Communication / Documentation
- Must be fluent in English
- Must be capable of succinct and accurate engineering documents (reports, procedures, etc)
- Also desired:
- Independent critical review of technical documents
- Other duties as required

Education/Training:
- 5 years minimum experience in a design or development engineering role
- BS in Engineering, or equivalent experience, required
- Solidworks: minimum 1,000hrs seat time within last 5 years.
- Solidworks EPDM/PDM Pro: experience desirable, not required
