Position Details:

Schedule: Full time, 38.75 hours/weekly, Monday through Friday, shifts 7:30A – 4:00P, 8:00A-4:30P, 8:30A – 5:00P, 9:00A – 5:30P. No nights, no weekends, no major holidays

Department: Radiology

Locations: Float position primarily physiatry at Worcester medical center but can cover locations in Worcester, Auburn, Holden, Milford, Shrewsbury, Westborough, and Southborough


The Radiology Technologist provides general direction of the Supervisor and/or Senior Technologist, and utilizes independent judgment to provide radiological services to patients while adhering to department organizational policies, procedures and standards.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Routinely provides radiographic diagnostic services by operating imaging equipment and other equipment/devices as necessary. Evaluates radiographs for technical quality and seeks advice when necessary. Troubleshoots and problem solves certain factors before calling service. Operates all generators and equipment. Produces quality Radiographs and conforms to department standards. Make a conscientious effort to show any cases to a radiologist upon finding suspicious abnormalities
  • Maintains sound employee radiation safe practices that are in compliance with ALARA and the standards set by the State of Massachusetts. Wear proper shielding devices at all times for self-protection. Does not hold patients while radiation is being omitted
  • Proficient in C-ARM positioning and maneuverability
  • Maintains proper sterile and aseptic technique for patients and required sterile fields. Sets up sterile trays pertinent to each procedure. Completes cross training program. Maintains proficiency of skills learned
  • Rotates as necessary to perform all procedures of the department. Displays ability to work in any general diagnostic site
  • Displays ability to perform trauma procedures and adhere to trauma protocol. Possesses a workable knowledge of any pre-exam preparation
  • Maintains or reports on established supply shelf levels for the department. Stocks and rotate stock on shelves with replacements when supplies arrive
  • Checks the supplies in the department on a daily basis and communicates low stock levels
  • Initiates life support measures, if necessary. Possesses a workable knowledge of the “Code Blue” protocol. Possesses a workable knowledge of the “Nurse Call” system. Knows where the code cart and other emergency supplies are kept. Maintains appropriate patient records and assists in all clerical support procedures as required. Knows the X-ray file system. Completes requisition or generates bar code. Logs all patients in appropriate log books where applicable
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills required to perform processes involved in the delivery of age-appropriate care. Provides care appropriate to the patient population served

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of a two-year program with accredited school or program of Radiologic Technology with an Associate Degree or certificate
  • Commonwealth of Massachusetts registered Radiology Technology License
  • Current CPR certification
  • Knowledge of various software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Proven excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • EMR experience (EPIC)
