Job Summary: Work with the Plant Management and Central Quality to develop and implement the quality systems needed and be the primary voice of the customer on all quality related issues – product launch to customer complaints.
Required Education/Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality Management and working with OEMs as a Tier 1 or Tier 2 Quality Manager.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the aluminum extrusion manufacturing and safety critical components desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience or familiarity with ISO9001/IATF standards.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
- Engineering or Technical College degree preferred but can be replaced by 10 years plus of solid industry experience.
- Automotive experience a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-starter able to work alone or with a team.
Job Responsibilities:
Customer Quality Management:
- Primary voice of the customer on all quality related issues – product launch to customer complaints
- Direct and develop the Quality Engineers on timely resolution of quality issues/SCAR’s with a focus on implementing technical solutions.
- Ensure all customer issues are receive a sense of urgency with a focus on Preventive mindset.
- Work with the Quality Engineers in the development of inspection and sampling techniques, quality control plans, or process control procedures that will ensure products meet quality specifications and standards.
- Improved customer relations with all levels of customer to drive a Win-Win partnership.
Quality Lab Management:
- Ensure efficient functioning of the Quality Lab team - Supervise & Direct all the Quality Technicians, CMM Technicians, and Heat Treat Specialist.
- Ensure that the Quality lab performs the inspections, mechanical testing, gage & oven calibration, and dock audits per quality plans to run a 24 X 7 operation.
- Work with QE/Program Management on customer PPAP’s and ongoing capability studies as outlined by the control plans.
- Ensure compliance on all test methods, documentation, and records.
- Accurately report and trend data measurement results as needed.
- Verify time and attendance, approve time off requests according to the payroll schedule.
- Handle disciplinary action involving quality team members.
Supplier Quality Management:
- Lead Supplier Quality efforts by working with our Supply base to communicate and resolve quality issues in an urgent and efficient manner.
- Primary voice to Suppliers during product launches, quality issues and PPAP approvals.
- Perform and assist with supplier audits and new supplier qualifications.
- Assist with processing and charge backs for supplier responsible nonconforming material.
Quality Systems Management:
- Work with the Plant Management and Central Quality to develop and implement the quality systems needed (ISO9001 / IATF) in the period outlined by Management.
- Assist in the development of Layered process Audits/LPA’s, departmental procedures, including updating and distributing manuals and other documents.
