Job Description
Responsible for supporting our manufacturing operation and driving Continuous Improvement initiatives, including driving Quality at the Source, being the voice of the customer internally as well as a customer liaison, and mentoring C&M staff in the pursuit of quality excellence. Responsible for ensuring that our products comply with customer standards and that our processes align with our QMS by managing quality operations and working hand in hand with our manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, human resources, finance, facilities, warehouse, sales and customer service departments.
Major Responsibilities:
- Lead the Quality team, directing daily activities, ensuring conformity and accuracy in the production process and adherence to quality standards and the Company’s QMS.
- Drive Quality at the Source.
- Improve product quality through recommendations for product/process change, working with relevant Departments and Teams.
- Interact with Customers and Suppliers as needed to address and resolve quality issues.
- Generate Return Material Authorizations (RMA’s) as needed.
- Create/Update/Control QA Sheets ensuring adherence to Customer specifications, including the assignment of QA Sheet Numbers.
- Prepare Capability Studies, PPAPs, and FAI’s, through collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data, and making recommendations based on findings, reporting to Customers as needed.
- Generate non-conformance’s (internal, customer, and vendor) and lead the Corrective and Preventive Action process using the 8D method for Root Cause Analysis.
- Lead the Material Review Board (MRB) and ensure that nonconforming product is positively identified, isolated, and segregated to prevent further operations and/or shipment to the customer.
- Maintain Company Quality Core Metrics and post as necessary.
- Coordinate and assist customer, 2nd party audits.
- Maintain the calibration program with accurate inventories ofmeasuring devices and established calibration frequencies using the Unipoint Database.
- Work with Accounting and Purchasing to negotiate Customer and Vendor credits.
Skills / Qualifications / Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience/education combination
- Minimum 7 years of related experience
- Supervisory/management experience
- ·Six Sigma Green belt preferred.
- Demonstrated use of interpersonal skills, high emotional intelligence, and leadership in driving change throughout an organization or department.
- Strong background implementing lean manufacturing concepts including, one-piece flow, 5-S, statistical engineering, and kaizen with experience leading initiatives and implementing principles into manufacturing processes.
- Capable of planning and organizing work and processes; ability to direct multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Experience in a machine job shop type environment with high mix/ medium to high volume parts preferred.
