Job Description
Primary Purpose: The purpose of the Quality
Inspector I is to verify that incoming, in process and outgoing material and
associated quality records meets quality standards of Facet Technologies and/or
the Customer. Verify the condition, quantity and paperwork associated with
customer returns and supplied material. Must be trained and qualified to use a
wide variety of inspection/test equipment and instruments. Must be able to read
and interpret detailed engineering drawings and be able to operation measuring
instruments per internal procedures. _____________________________________________________________________________________
Primary Responsibilities:
· Inspect incoming parts and materials as directed
to verify they meet specifications of both Facet and the Customer by using a
variety of measuring instruments. Maintain records of lots or parts checked.
May be required to record receipt data (number of parts received, and number of
parts accepted/rejected, etc).
· Verify the integrity of manufactured parts by
inspecting these parts according to current specifications and with required QA
instrumentation. Review inspection records and tests per current procedures.
· May inspect manufactured parts at supplier facility
to verify compliance to proper specifications and/or requirements.
· Perform visual functional test inspections in
adherence with GLP, GDP, and GMP requirements.
· Prepare non-conformance reports on any part(s)
not meeting required specifications.
· Good verbal and written skills, including
writing reports including detailed investigations and conclusions.
· Perform material transactions in the
computerized inventory management system,
· Maintain use of calibrated gauges and QA
instruments and keep corresponding records.
· Maintain extremely accurate documentation for
materials and parts.
· Receive and evaluate material and/or parts
returned on a Returned Material Authorization (RMA) to determine the condition
of returned items. Verify whether or not parts have been damaged during return
shipment.
· Facilitate required inspection activities with
outsources inspectors in the manufacturing areas to assure compliance with
customer requirements and/or specifications.
· Perform other duties as assigned.

· Willing to provide input for work instructions.
· Willing to obtain and maintain ASQ and/or ASME
Certified Inspector accreditation(s).
Education:
Required:
· Diploma or GED.
· 2 year technical college education degree or 5
years inspection /test experience.
· Current Quality certification(s) may be
substituted for the college education.
Preferred:
· American Society for Quality or Metrology
certifications.
Skills and Experience:
Required:
· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret
complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or
complaints.
· Ability to understand and apply basic math
skills.
· Ability to apply principles of logical or
scientific thinking to practical problems.
· Understanding of Basic Geometric Dimensioning,
Tolerances, and Metrology concepts.
· Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism
(formulas, graphs, etc.)
· Ability to look up reference material
(material tables, sampling plans, etc.) within ASTM, ASME, and ANSI standards
and make sound decisions resulting from the information available.
· Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and
concrete variables.
· Frequently needs to talk and hear.
· Frequently stands, walks, and sits, as well as
using hands to touch or feel, and arms to reach.
· Exposure to moderate to loud noise on an
occasional basis.
· Must be able to lift up to 35lbs unassisted.
· PPE required in identified environments.
· Will be required to submit to, and pass,
annual visual examination.
o Jaeger 1 eyesight required in at least one eye
either natural or corrected.
o Shall not be color blind for the colors red
and green.
· Regularly exposes to moving mechanical parts,
fumes, and airborne particles.
· Regularly exposed to moderate to loud noise
level (examples: noises produced by heavy machinery, welding/grinding,
processes, etc.; also noises associated with a business office with computers
and printers, light traffic).
· Personal Protective Equipment is required
including, but not limited to, hearing protection and safety glasses.
· Calipers, micrometers, inspection gauges, and
any other equipment required for inspection.
· Must possess the ability to learn the computer
system and work with company enterprise software.
· Must be able to use office equipment such as
telephones, facsimile machine, photocopier, etc.
· Safe work performance is required from each
employee at all times.
· Additionally, the proper discharge of safety
responsibilities is an integral part of each employee’s performance
appraisal.
· PPE required in identified environments.
