Summary:
Employee is responsible for audits for all in-process checks, final inspection, purchased parts, and for some incoming materials. Auditors will train press operators on quality requirements for each job and how to inspect production parts. Auditors are also responsible for identifying nonconforming parts, labeling the nonconforming parts, and ensuring that the disposition for any nonconforming part is completed in a timely manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs layout inspection by measuring dimensions such as part feature length, height, size, and distance (true position) between reference points using precision instruments such as part specific gages, micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, height gages, Trimos, and CMM to confirm product meets specifications.
- Auditor will be able to establish sort/rework requirements with exact area(s) that need reworked and the standard to compare to. The auditor would then complete the paperwork pertaining to sort requirements and train individuals accordingly to perform the required sort/rework.
- The auditor is responsible for sending out a “quality alert” via email for any issue that is causing rework and sort.
- Able to access, read, and interpret part specific prints to compare part to print requirements.
- Able to perform required job functions in Plex such as, but not limited to, clocking in and out of workcenters, record checksheets, creating sort/rework work orders, printing barcode labels, changing inventory statuses, or any other required items.
- Performs verification on in-process, received from outside process, and ship ready products to control plan check sheets or part print, as required.
- Visually, or otherwise, compares work pieces against one another or master sample, last piece of shift or previous production run, to assess/detect manufacturing variations in processes.
- Assists and/or trains operators on part visual and measurement acceptability, as well as, process procedures, as required.
- Reports quality problems or findings to Quality Management and follows up to ensure that corrective action has/will take place.
- Maintains records of inspections and prepares list of defects, interacts with other departments to ensure compliance with specifications and to facilitate the acceptance of parts.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe personal work area and shared facility space.
- The individual will observe and comply with all company, federal, and state safety and environmental policies and practices.
- Performs all other required tasks elsewhere in the plant as directed by supervision.
- Must be able to use a PC to enter quality data.
- Good eyesight and good health to meet company attendance guidelines.
- Ability to place or position parts on surface plates or other inspection equipment.
- Ability to manipulate parts for sorting and inspection.
- Able to do general cleaning and housekeeping tasks.
- Meet expected amount of quality and quantity of work.
- Understand and convert English and metric measuring systems.
- Good written communication skills and ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Understand and follow Material Safety Data Sheet requirements and all plant safety rules.
- Ability to lift, bend, twist, walk and climb as required to perform the job.
- Accurately complete all documents such as job cards, inspection sheets and tags as required.
- Proper care for all company property.
- Must be able to use the CMM, surface plate, and manual inspection equipment to layout parts.
- Aids Shift Supervisor in identifying job specific quality training needs.
- Attends and participates in all scheduled training and educational programs identified for this position.
- High School Diploma
- Competency in high school algebra and trigonometry and basic 10th grade reading and comprehension ability.
- Employee must be able to verbally explain company Quality Policy and ISO Quality Management Systems.
