POSITION SUMMARY
The Quality Coordinator supports the mission, goals and strategic plan of Nevada Donor Network Inc. (NDN) by facilitating continuous quality improvement within the department through various administrative functions including but not limited to: supporting the quality assurance work of the organization by reporting and disseminating information and documentation toensures donor records are accurate, complete and compliant with NDN policies as well as CMS, FDA, UNOS, AOPO, AATB, EBAA and other relevant laws, standards, and regulations. Evaluates donor records for process compliance and identification of areas of non-compliance, potential educational opportunities, and best practices.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential Functions Statement(s):
- Performs responsibilities of position and promotes teamwork and a professional working environment
- Receives, reports and documents all cultures within 24 hours of receipt to maintain patient safety
- Reviews organ donor recovery records ensuring their accuracy and completeness, and facilitates corrections as needed
- Assists and supports the development of metrics, scorecards, and process improvement projects to reflect individual, departmental, and company goals
- Attains knowledge with and adheres to the regulations, policies, and procedures published by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB), UNOS, CMS, NDN, and our outside partners.
- Requests and receives all autopsy reports for organ, eye and tissue donors and forwards the autopsy reports in a timely manner to the Manager of Quality & Regulatory Affairs or designee for final review. Provides at minimum weekly request reports to the Medical Examiner and/or Coroner’s office.
- Responsible for supporting the use of systems within the NDN Quality Management System and improvement initiatives within the Quality & Regulatory Affairs Department. Participates in PDSA activities.
- Recognizes and reports trends and opportunities for improvement (OFI) regarding donor records, Quality & Regulatory Affairs, and organizational metrics to the Manager of Quality & Regulatory Affairs.
- Assists with performing quality audits, including but not limited to call center recordings including the Uniform Donor Risk Assessment Interview (UDRAI), authorizations, and donor referral information.
- Supports and participates in scheduled and unscheduled tissue partner, regulatory and accrediting agency audits including but not limited to the AATB, EBAA, AATB, AOPO and FDA, CMS, UNOS/OPTN.
- Monitors status of donor records computerized tracking systems.
- Maintains confidentiality on all donor-related activities and internal matters
- Assists department leadership in the creation of policies, workflows, training materials, and other related documents as needed.
- Actively participates in Quality monthly meetings

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in biological science or related field preferred orAssociate degree and/or equivalent work experience is required.
Experience: Minimum two (2) years of experience with Eye Bank, Tissue Bank or OPO quality systems strongly preferred or related experience in a regulated or certified industry. Must possess excellent working knowledge of medical terminology.
Computer Skills: Working knowledge of computers and excellent data entry skills required. Knowledge of electronic donor record system, such as iTransplant strongly desired.
Certificates & Licenses: ASQ preferred or obtained within one year from starting this position
Other Requirements: Direct healthcare related experience is a plus. Knowledge of human anatomy and medical terminology required.
