What would you do as a Quality Assurance Coordinator?

The Quality Assurance Coordinator is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and patient care standards of the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). You can expect to regularly:

  • Ensure the ASC’s compliance with all applicable standards and regulations;
  • Manage documentation to ensure continual regulatory, license, and accreditation compliance for staff and facility;
  • Review ROSC policies and procedures, and develop and implement systems and processes to improve operational efficiency and ensure ongoing compliance with state and federal regulations;
  • Develop timelines and action plans to assure readiness and a system of checks and balances to assess compliance for any survey (accreditation or regulatory);
  • Organize emergency drills as required to ensure ASC’s compliance with regulatory standards;
  • Act as the liaison during surveyor visits;
  • Monitor and report on incidents/adverse events, develop corrective action plans with ASC leadership, and evaluate processes so future adverse events may be avoided;
  • Educate nursing and medical teams on Quality Assurance and compliance related tasks and goals, and ensure staff understand the importance of their compliance;
  • Identify areas for improvement for educating staff on operations, procedures, processes and patient care;
  • Coordinate the annual training day for ASC staff, educating on Quality Assurance, compliance, and best practices for medical staff;
  • Gather and compile information for Leapfrog survey and educate staff on needed improvements or process changes;
  • Ensure completion of new employee requirements and competencies in learning management system;
  • Organize and assist with internal training programs, including curriculum for the Surgical Technologist training program and OR Circulator training.
  • Develop orientation programs, didactic presentations, and clinical mentoring for novice to expert clinical staff that promotes continuity, quality care, best practices, and the integration of the performance improvement philosophy;
  • Provide reports as needed to leadership, state and federal authorities;
  • Represent the ASC at the monthly community IHCC meetings.
  • Attend organization meetings as required.

Requirements

  • Certifications
    • High School Diploma/GED;
  • Knowledge of:
    • State, Federal, and regulatory organization compliance requirements in a medical setting;
  • Experience
    • Two years in an ASC, hospital, or clinic setting;
    • Monitoring and ensuring regulatory compliance for an ASC, hospital, or clinic;
    • Preparing and presenting information to groups in a professional environment;
    • Communicating effectively with various levels of employees, including senior leaders, physicians, external entities and patients;
    • Analyzing problems, recommending solutions and implementing process improvements;
    • Using computer applications including Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications - How can you set yourself apart from other applicants?

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN);
  • Active Nevada RN License;
  • Experience using the electronic medical records system, Epic;
  • Current BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications.

This position operates in a clinical environment. Exposure to communicable diseases, biohazards, toxic substances, and similar conditions is possible. The noise level is usually moderate.
