Summary of duties and responsibilities:
Efficiently perform all tasks Involved in the production of company's products, follow standard work methods, and develop, practice, and direct safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible. Responsible for implementing and overseeing the operation and the efficiency of the overall Quality and Safety programs to ensure the utmost in customer satisfaction and company safety. Will also be responsible for ensuring continual safety programs and quality improvement within the facility. Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
Primary duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Improve reliability of new product development processes
2. Maintain company quality standards
3. Review products, processes and systems on an ongoing basis to determine where Improvements can be made
4. Oversee the product manufacturing process to ensure quality
5. Actively participate in production meetings with the manufacturing team
6. Count and inspect casting for defects.
7. Perform other related foundry duties and assignments as required.
8. Following the safety protocols and OSHA standards on all job sites, organize safety training for employees and report problems to management.
9. Maintain OSHA compliance with the following topics in mind;
a. Perform routine job safety analyses, building safety inspections and reviews;
b. Emergency Action Plans;
c. Fire Prevention Program;
d. Hazard Communication Program;
e. Personal Protective Equipment Program;
f. Maintain training documentation.
14. Assist in maintaining safety guidelines, procedures, and policies.
15. Able to effectively communicate both safety and environmental training topics.
16. Assist in ensuring and monitor regulatory issues. (i.e., DNR, EPA, DOT)
17. Provide initial new-hire safety training and follow-up interaction for new employees.
18. Assists the Company with accident management and prevention.
19. Maintain and file documentation needed for reporting to controlling agencies.
20. Able to interpret and decipher environmental permit requirements.
21. Travel to off-site locations to conduct training on a scheduled basis.
22. Report safety and environmental issues to the President and Plant Manager
Physical environment/working conditions: This position is in the factory and involves:
1. Standing, walking, balancing, crawling, crouching, stooping, climbing, bending, sitting, kneeling, reaching & feeling for long periods of time throughout the work shift.
2. Talking and hearing,
3. Vision (far and near)
4. Ability to lift 1-80 lbs.
5. Ability to carry 1-50 lbs.
6. Ability to push, pull, and handle up to 75 lbs.
Environmental working conditions: Employee will be exposed to:
1. Vibrations
2. Noise levels up to 90 decibels
3. Extreme heat, temperature changes {hot-cold) and outside environment some of the time
Hazards exposure:
1. Machinery, electrical
2. Fumes, gases, dust, burns
Education, prior work experience, specialized skills, and knowledge:
1. A Bachelor's Degree in safety and quality related programs or equivalent experience.
2. 2+ years of experience in professional quality assurance and safety/loss control.
3. Understand and follow directions
4. Read, write, and subtract
5. Knowledge in the sand casting industry
6. Proficiency with precision measuring tools
7. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
8. Strong knowledge of calibration and ability to read blue prints
9. Impeccable communication, safety presentation abilities and organizational skills
1 0. Able to work independently as well as within· a team.
11. Knowledge of OSHA and EPA rules and regulations and applicable regulatory agencies.
12. Proficient on Microsoft Office Products.
13. Ability to train all levels of the organization.
