Quality Control Microbiologist

Position Summary: The Microbiologist is responsible for performing microbiological / chemical and physical tests required for Quality Control of processes and products.

· Analyze components and physical properties of materials.

· Compile and analyze test information to determine operating efficiency of process or equipment and to diagnose malfunctions.

· Confer with scientists or engineers to conduct analyses, interpret test results, or develop nonstandard tests.

· Adjust formulas and processes based on test results.

· Test and analyze sample products.

· Prepare test solutions, compounds, and reagents for conducting tests.

· Establish or adjust work procedures to meet testing schedules.

· Recommend measures to improve testing procedures and use of equipment.

· Analyze and resolve work problems.

· Maintain documentation records.

Education/Experience:

· Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; and at least 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability: Read, analyze and interpret business, professional, technical or governmental documents. Write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers and the public.

Mathematical Ability: Apply advanced concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations and permutations. Apply operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, test reliability/validity, variance analysis, correlation technique, sampling theory and factor analysis.

Reasoning Ability: Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and email; Inventory software; Development software; Design software; Database software, and Contact Management systems.

Work environment involves moderate risks or discomforts that require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving machines in production facilities, handling of hazardous testing and sanitation chemicals. Protective clothing or gear such as goggles, gloves and shoes may be required

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work also requires some physical strain such as long periods of standing and walking in production facility and lifting of moderately heavy items such as test equipment kits and product cases. Other physical demands include climbing, crouching, and reaching.

Pay: From $55,000.00 per year

• Quality control: 3 years (Preferred)
• Microbiology: 3 years (Required)
• Dietary supplement Industry: 3 years (Preferred)
