Form of workMPL Laboratories/EMSL Analytical, Inc., one of the largest environmental testing firms in the United States is currently seeking a full-time Quality Control Microbiologist for its location in Sparta, NJ.
This position reports to the Quality Assurance Director. The basic function of the QC Microbiologist position is to perform Quality Control tasks in a microbiology laboratory.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Read/record agar settling plates from HEPA workstations.
Read/record negative control agar plates.
Read/record autoclave load negative controls.
Read/record membrane filtration negative controls.
Read/record water bath bioburden plates.
Read/record QC Total Condition Verification test results.
Read/record equipment temperatures.
Read/record results from QC tests on sterile lab materials.
Read/record QC membrane filtration results for diluents.
Perform QC testing on sterile lab materials.
Perform monthly sampling of the lab environment.
Perform weekly sampling of the purified water systems.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related Science
Must have prior educational laboratory experience, prior professional laboratory experience is a plus.
Must have experience with various microbiological media.
Must have excellent Oral, Written, and Technical Communication
Must have math aptitude.
Must be organized and possess the ability to plan day to day duties.
Must be able to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis.
Professional laboratory attire and mannerisms.
Must have time management skills.
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
Must be able to climb ladders.
Must be able to carry up to 50 pounds.

Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
