Position Overview
- The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest quality standards are maintained during the upfitting process of railroad equipment. This position requires a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of railroad safety regulations, and the ability to work collaboratively with a team of professionals.
Key Responsibilities
1.Quality Control Inspections:
- Conduct thorough inspections of railroad equipment undergoing upfitting to ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company specifications.
- Perform visual and functional inspections on various components, including but not limited to brakes, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems, couplers, welds and structural elements.
2. Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspection findings, documenting any defects or deviations from established standards.
- Generate comprehensive inspection reports for each upfitting project, clearly communicating issues and providing recommendations for corrective action.
3. Collaboration:
- Work closely with upfitting teams, project managers, and other stakeholders to address and resolve quality issues promptly.
- Provide guidance and support to production teams regarding quality standards, ensuring continuous improvement in the upfitting process.
4. Compliance:
- Stay up-to-date with relevant industry regulations, safety standards, and best practices to ensure that all upfitting activities comply with legal and safety requirements.
- Collaborate with regulatory authorities during audits and inspections to demonstrate compliance with established standards.
5. Training and Development:
- Assist in the development and implementation of training programs for upfitting teams to enhance overall quality awareness and adherence to standards.
- Provide constructive feedback and guidance to upfitting personnel to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Relevant certifications or training in railroad equipment maintenance and inspections preferred.
Work Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Quality Control inspections within the railroad industry.
- In-depth knowledge of railroad equipment and systems.
- Familiarity with relevant safety regulations and industry standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
