Summary of Position

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Supervisor, the Quality Assurance Technician will enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and perform duties to ensure that ingredients, finished product, and packaging comply with food safety and food quality requirements.

Essential Job Functions

• Collect, analyze, and interpret production and quality data to determine product acceptability in comparison to specifications and company procedures.
• Identify and place unacceptable raw, in-process and finished product on hold completing necessary documentation.
• Conduct inspection of plant conditions against sanitation standard operating procedures (SSOP), GMP audits, and identify nonconformance throughout the plant and production process.
• Verify that raw and dry ingredients meet physical specifications before using in blended product mix.
• Comply with and enforce food safety requirements and report issues to management.
• Verify that labels match the product and take appropriate action if they do not.
• Performs critical control point (CCP) checks.

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma.
• 1 year of prior experience in QUALITY ASSURANCE.
• Flexibility to work (6) consecutive days (Sunday to Friday) and overtime
• Able to speak, read and write English fluently.
• Ability to perform advanced mathematical calculations - knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) calculations preferred.
• Good working knowledge of MS Excel.
• Ability to work with small instruments and equipment for measurements or readings.
• Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.

Preferred

• Bachelor’s degree or associate degree.
• Manufacturing industry experience in food.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
