The QA Specialist will conduct and coordinate quality production for unloading, receiving, encoding, sorting, staging and loading. Assist and train employees; coach employees to ensure the correct standard operating procedures are followed
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Audit sacks and carts for mis-sorts; check gaylords for misroutes, wrong placards and wrong container IDs; package labels for print quality and track back to origin terminal or encode station for correction
- Perform orientation and training for new employees assigned to department; assist supervisors and management staff with people development; inform Supervisor/Manager of the status of Encoders- and Sorters-in-training
- Demonstrate "Best Practices" for employees; assist employees, provide direction; coach sorters and runners when exceptions are discovered; apprise supervisor of any issues that may occur
- Demonstrate and work with employees to move product through each step of the process flow
- Conduct periodic pre-shift communication meetings regarding quality to provide tips and increase quality awareness
- Identify sort and quality issues and communicate to the Supervisor or Manager to take corrective action
- Create and maintain the daily recap report of identified errors; review with Supervisor or Manager
- Identify most help needed areas and report to Supervisor or Manager for quality enhancement
- Print head quality, mislabels, oversize markup, correct work order, correct product type

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High School or equivalent training and/or least 6 months related experience preferred
REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Read work orders, tickets, receiving, BOLs, graphs, logs, schedules, verify zip code numbers
- Observe and read gauges, instruments, dials to determine operating processes and procedures
- Identify and list production data such as quantities, PPH, and operating calculations
- Prepare detailed records or reports such as receiving reports, operating logs, quantities
- Estimate speed of moving objects
- Inspect, examine and observe for obvious product or equipment defects easily and not easily identified
- Understand standardized math processes
- Plan and schedule movement or flow of materials or products
- Plan own work activities and plan and direct work activities of others
- Work with minimal supervision; under pressure and on several tasks at the same time
- Understand, plan and perform a sequence of diversified operations where standard methods are available
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Frequently lift/push/pull mail and parcels weighing up to 50 pounds
- Frequently observe and determine the levels of productivity and output of personnel
- Frequently communicate with departmental personnel to assign, lead and coordinate work activities and ensure production standards are met
- This is a warehouse environment where frequently this position will be exposed to cold, hot and changing temperatures; will constantly experience noise at medium level not damaging or loud enough to require protective equipment; will frequently be exposed to dust, dirt and changes in lighting
