Supervise the quality system for the manufacturing and assembly of sheet metal components to determine the degree of compliance with customer drawings and specifications. Administer and monitor the calibration program for measuring instruments.
- Maintaining equipment associated with the quality system inspections of production work.
- Following quality procedures and communicating discrepancies to Management.
- Notifying management of any shortages, quality issues or repairs needed to any inspection or production equipment.
- Operating the computer software programs associated with the Quality and Production Departments.
- Maintaining required records and files in a neat and auditable manner.
- Informing Management of any issues that will delay the delivery of product to our customers.
- Reading calipers, micrometers and various measurement equipment.
- Reading and understanding prints and drawings.
- Knowing the quality system, buy-off procedures, AQL, peer review inspections and how to record entries.
- Performing in process and internal audits.
- Administrating and monitoring the instrument calibration and hurricane certification programs for metal doors.
- Operating pallet jack and forklift equipment.
- Training production and administration personnel to the quality standards.
- Perform quality inspections and supervise the production process.
- Keep work area neat and clean.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school degree or equivalent required. Associates degree preferred.
- One to two years previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience.
- Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in the quality system supervision and inspections of production work.
- Ability to read and comprehend standard instructions, short correspondence, and memos; including safety, instructional and procedural manuals.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to present information in one-on-one group situations with fellow employees and customers.
- Ability to make basic mathematical calculations related to daily job functions.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables.
- Ability to apply commonsense in understanding and carrying out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
