Purchasing Specialist - Renewables

BEI Construction is seeking a Purchasing Specialist for our Solar and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) divisions.  As a Purchasing Specialist, you will be responsible for division-wide purchasing activities, including the purchase of materials and delivery of materials, billings, and partnering with project teams to ensure successful and timely outcomes.  This position will be on-site in Alameda, CA, and will report to the CFO and divisional General Managers.

Responsibilities & Duties

• Responsible for purchasing activities, including request for quotes, purchase orders, bill of materials, etc.
• Attain multiple bids for long lead time items
• Work closely to develop relationships with distributors and manufacturers
• Coordinate delivery of products and equipment
• Manage hold and release process
• Manage inventory transfer report
• Aggregate purchases for standard BOM materials
• Identify, research, and resolve discrepancies with purchase orders
• Coordinate with renewables team on changes required for existing purchase orders, including cancellations
• Responsible for vendor setup and maintenance
• Process, manage, and improve the purchase order process
• Manage initial and progress billing and submit monthly billing to A/R
• Work with stakeholders to improve logistics and efficiency
• Contact vendors to resolve issues and respond to inquiries
  
• Work closely with estimating to review BOM’s
• Coordinate and procure long lead time items in accordance with delivery schedule and EPC contracts
  
• Attend trade shows and keep current on new technology, vendors, and integrators
• Order and track all field tools
• Assist in the procurement of company vehicles
  
• Provide support to Project Managers, as needed
• Special projects and other duties, as required

Education and/or Experience:

• Minimum of 4-year degree or comparable industry experience in a related field
• 4+ years of purchasing experience preferred
• 3+ years experience in procuring electrical, switchgear, solar and energy storage
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to do take offs on single line designs
• Ability to balance multiple tasks with changing priorities
• Demonstrate time management skills with attention to detail
