Under the direction of the Lieutenant of Operations, the Public Safety Communication Supervisor supervises all part-time Public Safety Dispatchers. Based on semester, this is typically twelve dispatchers.
Essential Functions

- Manage Communications Center staff, including recruitment, training, and supervision.
- Collaborate with Police and Community Service Officers to ensure proper procedures and Maintain relationships with outside agencies.
- Oversee scheduling, manage contingencies, and provide shift coverage during staffing shortages.
- Ensure robust function of technological components and dispatch software.
- Act as LEADS Agency Coordinator, manage records, including traffic violations and police officer onboarding.
- Manage user accounts and templates for Rave Mass Notification System.
- Plan and execute lockdown and evacuation drills.
- Audit lockdown function and ensure functionality.
- Update First Responder Binders annually.
- Maintain and order Area of Refuge signs for campus stairwells.
- Coordinate and assign required training, monitor recertification dates, and maintain records.
- Create, maintain, and update staff files, and approve timecards for employees.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Lieutenant.
Minimum Requirements
- An associate’s degree or two years of security related experience
- At least 21 years of age
- Ambulatory ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, both indoors and outdoors.
- Sufficient writing skills to prepare incident reports
- Sufficient human relation skills to resolve confrontation, affect behavior of others, assert oneself, and convey a positive image of the Department
- Able to work in the US legally without sponsorship.
Preferred Requirements
- Dispatching experience or some form of emergency communications experience
- Familiar with Microsoft SharePoint applications
- Familiar with CAD systems
- Familiar with Security Desk
- Familiar with emergency notification systems such as Rave

This job operates in person in a professional office environment located in Moody’s downtown, Chicago campus. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. In addition, individuals will use security equipment such as video monitors, 2-way radio equipment, and security keys and electronic fobs.
