JOB TITLE: Public Safety Officer

DEPARTMENT: Public Safety

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

MAIN FUNCTION: To provide quality Public Safety, transportation, loss prevention and security
services to residents, employees and visitors of Westminster Place and Ten Twenty Grove.

REPORTS TO: Supervisor, Public Safety

SUPERVISES: None

employees will be required to follow any other job-related instructions and to perform any other
job- related duties required by their supervisor.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide building and premises security through regular vehicular and foot patrols of the

campus.

• Respond promptly and courteously to requests for assistance from residents, staff, and/or

visitors.

• Regulate and direct vehicle and/or pedestrian traffic as needed.
• Monitor parking areas and issue citations when appropriate.
• Provide transportation services whenever requested to do so.
• Write in the appropriate manner, routine and special reports.
• Monitor all emergency systems while stationed at the gatehouse, including the closed circuit

camera system.

• Remains aware of Presbyterian Homes Corporate Compliance policies including those having to do

with confidentiality and security of information, and concern for the wellbeing of residents.

• Demonstrates behaviors and completes work in a manner consistent with Presbyterian Homes’

policies and Corporate Compliance rules.

EDUCATION: High school graduate or equivalent

EXPERIENCE: Previous experience as a Public Safety Officer, Security, or a Loss Prevention
Officer in a health care or campus setting is desirable.

QUALIFICATIONS: Good written and verbal communication skills are required.

CONTACTS: Frequent interaction with residents, staff, and visitors.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Frequent walking, climbing stairs, standing and sitting both indoors and outdoors, responding to alarms and other duty assignments in all weather conditions.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be available for assignment to any shift days, evenings, nights, weekends or holidays.

HAZARDS: Possible exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, electrical hazards, smoke inhalation, dust, strong odors.
