Job Description
JOB SUMMARY: The Marketing/PR Coordinator is responsible for broadly employing all means of communications, media relations, social media, and marketing materials to communicate with Coveys many audiences, promote the Covey brand locally, and advance its mission and strategic goals to increase awareness, volunteers, program attendance, and philanthropic support.
COMMUNITY/PUBLIC RELATIONS
- Write and distribute organizational media releases, manage photo opportunities, host press outlets and film crews on-site while facilitating successful press experiences.
- Build relationships with elected officials to educate them on proposed legislation that impacts individuals with disabilities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with press and media, as well as a wide array of diverse audiences, and/or community organizations.
- Participate with the entire team as an ambassador for Covey in the communityforging partnerships, identifying collaborative opportunities, and serving on committees for community initiatives as needed.
- Should enjoy public speaking and possess diplomatic interpersonal skills as Coveys primary representative for speaking engagements.
MARKETING
- Work with Coveys marketing firm to develop and implement Coveys marketing strategy.
- Prepare and execute marketing strategies in the creation of print and digital marketing materials including brochures, direct mail, email campaigns, and other promotional materials.
- Manage distribution of Covey material to key outlets to ensure timely delivery.
SOCIAL MEDIA
- Possess a strong understanding of the tactical uses of core social media platforms (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn).
- Create and maintain social media calendars, plan and coordinate mission driven content.
- Monitor and respond to all social media content and interactions.
- Must maintain organizational voice on social channels and external communications and balance the need of different departments and priorities.
- Monitor, analyze and report on KPIs to evaluate the effectiveness/efficiency of campaigns and make adjustments as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain a video and picture library to be used on social media and Coveys website.
- Experience posting/managing social media for an organization is preferred. Familiarity with social media management software a plus
PUBLICATIONS
- Manage the design and distribution of organizations print and/or digital publications.
- Experience - and success in - producing quality writing/copyediting.
OTHER
- May be assigned other duties.
- Positive, creative, enthusiastic self-starter with superior planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple PR/Marketing projects and deadlines and be able to take a project from concept to successful execution.
- Ability to work some weekends and evenings occasionally when needed to assist with fundraising events, programs and/or press visits with an eye on capturing events for social media.
- Collect and preserve Coveys Mission Moments. This will involve creating a process for capturing stories and organize them for easy accessibility.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:
- B.A. or AD from an accredited institution with a concentration in Public Relations, communications, marketing, or other related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of two years experience in PR and Marketingwork in non-profit sector a plus.
- Solid proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Familiarity with additional digital media tools such as Constant Contact, Canva and/or others is a plus.
