NC Department of Health and Human Services is looking to hire up to 3 temporary, part-time Public Health Informaticians to assist with programming in SAS, R, and Tableau for the Occupational and Environmental Epidemiology Branch. The positions will provide training and guidance on these specific platforms to staff in OEEB programs including NC Environmental Public Health Tracking, Climate and Health, Private Well and Health, and the NC Wastewater Monitoring Network.
The Occupational and Environmental Epidemiology Branch (OEEB) investigates workplace and environmental conditions that may pose a risk to human health. Our expertise includes epidemiology, toxicology, industrial hygiene, and health communications. We collect and analyze data regarding environmental and occupational risks to Public Health in North Carolina; respond to Public Health emergencies, including the COVID-19 pandemic and natural disasters; evaluate the scientific literature and available technical data to provide evidence-based Public Health recommendations; assist local health departments, state agencies, and other partners in the implementation of recommended policies and programs; and promote Public Health and environmental justice.
Required Education and Experience:
- Master's degree in Health Informatics or related health field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of related health informatics experience or
- Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics or a related health field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of health informatics experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- At least 2 years experience using the specific platforms
Rate: $27-36 /hr
Hours: 5-15 hours per week
