Job Description
Hours: 8:00 - 5:00 Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week
The Public Health Nurse II will provide primary and preventive health care to individuals and families in a Public Health agency. The PHN II will implement nursing care and counsel for promotion of health and prevention of disease through clinic visits. The PHN II will work with physicians, mid-level providers, WIC, lab staff and community agencies. May direct or supervise ancillary staff as assigned.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Complete basic nursing assessment
- Administration of vaccines
- Perform and assist with minor office procedures
- Triage
- Collect lab specimens
- Provide education
Education/Experience: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing, ADN, or BSN. One year of experience in Pediatrics and/or 1 year in an office/Public Health setting or Pediatric hospital experience. Bilingual preferred.
License: Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina. Current CPR certification.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge and skill in the application of nursing theory, practices, principles and techniques employed in the field of Public Health and related programs
- Knowledge of current social and economic problems relating to healthcare
- Knowledge of available resources and organizations
- Ability to record services rendered and interpret records, reports and medical instruction
