Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) is looking for a Public Health Analyst to work at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, GA. Successful candidates will be placed as ORAU contractors at the CDC facility.

JOB SUMMARY: The position will be working at Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Roybal Campus in Atlanta, GA. The CDC is the nation's premier health promotion, prevention, and preparedness agency. The Public Health Analyst will report to Goldbelt C6 leadership to ensure the execution of timely, high-quality deliverables for the client.  


As a Public Health Analyst working with the Partnerships and Health Equity Branch (PHEB) in the Immunization Services Division (ISD) as part of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD) to help support funded partnerships. The position will be working at Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Roybal Campus in Atlanta, GA. , you will be responsible for the following:

 

    • Conduct literature searches and summarize literature related to advances in adult immunization uptake, delivery, cost effectiveness, and best practices for increasing adult vaccination.
    • Develop or edit PowerPoint presentations.
    • Coordinate with the Coordination and Outreach Team on the Branch partnerships on the implementation of supplemental funding to support Partnerships and Health Equity immunization programs/decrease disparities in adult immunization.
    • Research current/trending data and summarize findings in reports, presentations at national forums, and peer-reviewed manuscripts.
    • Participate in all-awardee calls and site visits, as related to influenza preparedness.
    • Schedule, manage, document, and organize all meetings with internal and external partner organizations.
    • Assist team leads and team members with gathering background research, compiling background data and documents for submission to the Branch for processing through various procurement and clearance systems. Schedule meetings with internal and external partners/stakeholders, prepare meeting bullets and agendas, take notes/action items, prepare summary briefings of meetings and programmatic updates.
    • Provide internal and external meeting support and conference support by coordinating meeting materials such as agendas, handouts, and scheduling/confirming conference room arrangements.
    • Prepare/process print/graphic service requests for conference presentations.
    • Maintain the filing system on the team’s SharePoint site, and proactively identify improvements that can be made to the organization of share drive and SharePoint files.
    • Compose correspondence, reports, and/or memos.
    • Assist with providing new staff with information specific to the work unit to help with the transition into the work unit.
      • Support the section lead in the following areas:
      • Work closely with the other Partnerships and Health Equity teams to ensure collaboration
      • Work closely with the Office of Minority Health and CHEO to maintain collaboration and awareness of activities, initiatives, etc.
      • Explore existing health equity policy and planning throughout the agency to make sure our efforts are aligned.
      • Work with CHEO to explore NCIRD’s activities, etc. to ensure that a health equity lens has been applied.

     

     

    Additional Duties as needed:

    • Provide specialized technical assistance (TA) to all AIP partners (grantees, national and local orgs, CBOs, etc.) in coordination with the Co-operative Agreement management/consultation teams to increase community engagement and vaccine access.
    • Developing and disseminating best practice guidance on reducing hesitancy and increasing vaccine confidence, demand generation, and other emerging topics and offering regular consultation with partners, states, and jurisdictions to address challenges.
    • Sharing data-informed analysis and insights to support improved programming/ interventions on the ground.
    • Supporting knowledge sharing through learning communities and materials hub.
    • Coordinate with relevant CDC groups providing Technical Assistance, as well as partnership development efforts.

     

    Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

    • A deep understanding of barriers to health equity, as it pertains to immunizations.
    • Experience working with and providing hands-on support to community organizations, particularly at the grassroots level.
    • Experience delivering technical assistance and/or learning opportunities to organizations.
    • Public health communication skills, including ability to support development and packaging of toolkits, guidance, etc.
    • Ability to effectively communicate technical language to non-expert audiences, both orally and in writing.
    • Ability to quickly synthesize and communicate information in a concise, digestible way.
    • Experience liaising across teams with varying expertise and skill sets.

    • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Public Health, health education, epidemiology, or a related field with 3-5 years’ experience.
    • Clinical or Public Health background with experience communicating, coordinating, and working with Public Health programs.
    • Expertise in project management tools and software, including but not limited to: Excel, PowerPoint, Access, OneNote, and SAS or similar statistical tools.
    • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication in interpersonal exchanges.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain CDC Public Trust Clearance.

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master’s degree in Public Health or related field with 5-8 years of relevant experience.
    • Prior experience working with the CDC in partnership with state and local Public Health offices.
    • Prior experience working with state or local immunization programs and/or Section 317 funding.
    • Familiar with implementing health equity focused Public Health strategies at the state, local, and community level.

 

CITIZENSHIP REQUIREMENTS: US Citizenship or Legal Permanent Residency is required. Background Investigation, physical, and a drug screen may be required.
